General Description POSTING TYPE: Open Competitive DEPARTMENT: Library HOURS: Full-time HIRING RANGE: $60,396 - $75,495/year SALARY RANGE: $60,396 - $94,369/year (grade 107) LOCATION: Galaxie Library, Apple Valley UNION: AFSCME 693 CLOSE DATE: 4:30 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024 What You'll Do Dakota County Library seeks an energetic, innovative, and community-oriented Teen Services Coordinator at the Galaxie Library in Apple Valley, Minnesota. This position is responsible for developing and delivering quality services for teens, tweens, and their families within the Library and out in the community. This person will thrive in a high-energy environment and enjoy connecting with others. They will be an important youth advocate, highly attuned to the interests and needs of youth in our community, and will develop a range of educational and recreational programming and services to meet those needs. They will be strong connectors who communicate effectively with internal and external partners. This position reports to the Galaxie Branch Manager and serves on the Youth Services Team at both the Galaxie Library and in the Dakota County Library system. The person in this role will provide input and be a critical leader in the creation of best practices and strategies for effectively serving teens and tweens after school at the Galaxie Library. Future vacancies for this position across all Dakota County Library locations may be filled from this list of eligible candidates for a period of up to six months. Relationship Building and Youth Advocacy Actively contribute to creating a welcoming and beneficial library environment for youth and families. Use, model, and share with colleagues strong practices for working with teens. Actively solicit youth voice and collaboration to inform goals and direction for youth services and events. Service and Program Development Plan and deliver a wide array of program offerings responsive to the needs of a diverse community Stay attuned to evolving teen interests and trends and effectively use those trends in library services Collaborate with youth services colleagues to identify opportunities and best practices around Teen Services Utilize formal and informal evaluation tools to inform program development Community Connector Identify, build, and maintain connections to community groups and individuals to expand and promote library services Collaborate with area schools and other youth-serving organizations Customer Service Provide friendly and approachable customer service Connect customers with library services and resources Assist customers with library technology Contribute to maintenance of books and materials for youth in the library location Other specialized duties as needed for the operation of the library. The work involves minimal risks and observance of safety precautions typical of office settings. The work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate controlled office. May require occasional travel.
