We invite applicants for a permanent non-tenure teaching track, full-time, nine-month position at the rank of Instructor in the School of Kinesiology and Nutrition in the College of Education and Human Sciences to begin fall 2025.We seek a highly motivated scholar with a strong record of teaching and service. The successful candidate will contribute to our school through excellence in teaching undergraduate courses and engaging in professional service. The goal of this position is to enhance school expertise and teaching capabilities related to the delivery of clinical and practical aspects of school programming related to physiology, fitness, nutrition, health and well-being.

Job Summary
This nine-month, non-tenure track permanent teaching track faculty position requires teaching undergraduate courses in the school, mentoring students, and providing service to the school, college, university, and professional organizations. The school administers programs in Exercise Science, Nutrition and Dietetics, Sport Coaching Education, Fitness and Nutrition, and K-12 Physical Education Licensure. The ideal candidate would be qualified to teach, serve, and help manage content courses and programming within the listed programming specific to Exercise Science and Fitness and Nutrition.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
A non-tenure-track permanent teaching track appointment as an Instructor involves:
Teaching:
Developing and delivering undergraduate courses in fitness, nutrition, exercise science, and related subjects both online and face to face.
Designing engaging, evidence-based curriculum and utilizing innovative teaching methods.
Providing academic and career guidance to students.
Mentoring students in academic pursuits.
Service:
Participating in departmental, university, and professional service activities.
Contributing to curriculum development, committee work, and community outreach initiatives.
Engaging in collaborative projects within and outside the institution.
Assisting with the assessment and evaluation of programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Earned master’s in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Sports Science, Nutrition, or related field.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching evidence of potential to conduct and disseminate research. Experience mentoring students.
Experience in ONLINE delivery systems like CANVAS.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with students, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds, programs, and colleges.
Knowledge of the field of Exercise Science along with knowledge of Fitness and Nutrition and Health and Well-being.
Skill sets associated with use and application of common Exercise Science methodologies, teaching, and scholarly tools.
Preferred Qualifications
Health/Fitness Certification (ACSM-EP, ACSM-CEP or closely related).
1-year of clinical exercise physiology or corporate wellness experience.
Experience in developing and delivering courses and curriculum at the College level.
Experience establishing and managing external affiliations and supervising/mentoring students.
Location: The position is based in Hattiesburg, Mississippi as in-person.
The School: The School of Kinesiology and Nutrition houses state-of-the-art research and teaching facilities. Our newly renovated teaching and research spaces contain a wide array of technology to teach and conduct scholarship to include a dedicated Foods laboratory (equipped with an 8-station industrial, stainless steel teaching kitchen with video technology), an Anthropometric Assessment laboratory, a dedicated Teaching and Assessment space, a Biomechanics laboratory, Exercise Physiology laboratory, and a dedicated audio-visual capture teaching studio. The school also supports the federally funded Mississippi Center for Clinical and Translational Research Community Engagement and Training Core.
