Job Summary

Serves as operational support liaison for benefit deductions and benefit payment remittance – Reconciles payroll data for University employee benefit deductions and taxes and works with management to remit payments on behalf of the University.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for remitting payment of all University Employee Benefit Deductions by strict deadlines.

  • Prepares and works with Payroll Manager, Human Resources Benefit Management and outside operational support offices to coordinate changes, reconcile deductions to invoices, resolve discrepancies and remit payments.

  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual federal payroll tax reports and unemployment reports.

  • Prepares all payroll processing items based on reconciliation of deduction reports.

  • Maintains Payroll Team calendar and monthly checklist of all remittance items.

  • Submits bank transfers and generates all Journal Entries for both Monthly and BW payrolls for Payroll Manager approval.

  • Maintains excellent customer service while providing payroll guidance to other departments within operational support and administrative support to the Payroll Manager and or the Controller.

  • Serves as a back-up for Payroll Processing Specialists and the Payroll Manager.

  • Assists with other projects and assignments as designated by office management and performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 1 year of payroll experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of office procedures and of spelling, grammar, punctuation, and arithmetic.

  • Knowledge of data entry equipment

  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as Microsoft Office.

  • Skill in typing with minimal errors.

  • Skill in the operation of office equipment including, but not limited to, multiline telephone, calculator, multi-function printer/copy/scan and computer.

  • Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, and reports, including Excel spreadsheets

  • Ability to maintain records of materials, supplies, time, and work performed.

  • Ability to critically think through paycheck issues and make suggestions on corrections.

Preferred Qualifications

A strong skillset with written and oral communication.

Reconciliation of accounts experience.
