COUNTY OF CLAY Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B) in Hayesville, North Carolina
Emergency Medical Technician (Basic) - Paramedic with the Clay County EMS.
The purpose of this part-time position is to perform level life support, transport, stabilization procedures, and emergency medical care at the Basic Level in the Emergency Services program of the Clay County.
Duties include but are not limited to: serving as operator of emergency medical unit responding to calls for assistance and transports patients to medical facilities; administers basic level of life support techniques and procedures based on patient assessment; gathers patient medical and insurance information from the patient, family members or bystanders and inputs into the computer; completes necessary records and reports for emergency calls including information for billing documentation, and legal accountability.
Applicants must have a certification by the State of North Carolina as an EMT at the Basic Level and ability to obtain certifications such as Basic Life Support, International Trauma Life support, and Advanced Stroke Life Support certifications within timeframes established by the County.
Shift hours are required and includes nights, weekends and holidays.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide advanced paramedic level life support and emergency medical care to patients at an accident or illness scenes and during transport.
Duties include but are not limited to: administer paramedic level of life support techniques and procedures based on patient assessment, ability to draw blood, administer approved medications, initiating intravenous fluids, performing pulmonary ventilation, etc.
May serve as senior staff on an assigned shift.
Applicant must be willing to attend in-service classes to maintain certification.
Applicant must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions, very heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 30 pounds of force constantly.

Education Requirements:
- Applicants must have a certification from the State as a Paramedic level Emergency Medical Technician and a valid driver's license.
