Child Development Council of NEPA Assistant Early Childhood Teacher in Hazleton, Pennsylvania

This is an Assistant Early Childhood Teacher position. They work in cooperation with other assistant group supervisors, group supervisors and aides to present an age appropriate curriculum for our children ages 6 months to 5 years of age.* *The salary level is commensurate on experience and education in early childhood field. Assistant Teachers must have a completed CDA (Child Deevelopment Associate) Credential or 9 college credits in ECE. This person must be able to relate well to children and have a desire to work with very young children. Must be able to work as a team with other teachers and have a positive attitude towards early childhood education.

An employee in this category is responsible for a group of children. Direct supervision is received from the Center Director and/or Group Supervisors. An employee in this category should be capable of some initiative and independent function to insure the well being of children.

An Assistant Teacher is responsible for the following duties in accordance with the policies of Child Development Council:

  1. Treats children and parents in a warm and welcoming manner at all times.

  2. Works with children individually and in groups. Able to work independently with a group of assigned children and accepts accountability and responsibility for same

  3. Supervises and interacts with children in all activities both indoors and outdoors

  4. Able to implement the curriculum put in place by the Agency for their age group of children; can explain same to parents

  5. Insures the health and safety of children by knowledge of accident prevention, health policies and general safety rules; able to interact fully with the children to intervene in potential problem situations

  6. Works cooperatively with all staff for the benefit of the children

  7. Maintains materials and equipment in good working order; teaches children to do same

  8. Maintains cleanliness and general order in the centers; participates in the center cleaning schedule

  9. Responsible to the supervisory staff; consults supervisory staff immediately on problems or concerns

10.Able to understand and carry out written and oral instructions

11.Maintains strict confidentiality for each child and their family

12.Adheres at all times to Child Development Council's philosophy and policies with regard to children and job.

13.All other duties as assigned by supervisor including meal preparation and/or serving as needed

 

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Overtime

Work Location: In person

Full time staff must be available for a shift between 6:30 and 5:30. We are a full year program.
