Position Overview

As a leader in complex metal fabrication, we are experiencing unprecedented growth and seeking a dynamic Production Supervisor to play a pivotal role in our rapidly growing operations. As we continue to expand, your expertise will be crucial in supporting and managing all plant operations. In this key position, you'll take charge of the day-to-day production schedule, staffing, and material flow, while providing essential backup support to the Plant Manager. Your leadership will be instrumental in ensuring safety, driving productivity, maintaining our commitment to on-time delivery, and upholding our high-quality standards across first shift operations.

Key Responsibilities

In your role as Production Supervisor, you will:

Safety:

  • Lead by example in following and enforcing safety guidelines, ensuring a secure environment for all employees

  • Work closely with the safety coordinator and plant manager to address issues, conduct training, and resolve equipment safety concerns

  • Step in to conduct daily Safety walks when the plant manager is unavailable

Productivity:

  • Oversee plant floor operations, aligning resources and projects with company goals and metrics

  • Direct labor and staffing to meet production targets, ensuring optimal alignment across work centers and shifts

  • Implement efficient shop floor organization using scheduling tools to support smooth material flow

  • Join the plant manager on daily "Gemba walks" to address emerging concerns

On-Time Delivery:

  • Collaborate with the Plant Manager, Production Control, and Scheduling team to meet commitments and due dates

  • Strategically align staffing, resources, and equipment to achieve our 95% On-Time Delivery (OTD) goal

  • Monitor daily shipping goals and drive efforts to meet these targets

  • Execute schedules effectively, identifying and removing obstacles to meet commitments

Quality:

  • Oversee quality performance on the shop floor, guiding efforts to reduce internal and external quality rejects

  • Spearhead projects aimed at minimizing internal rejects and reworks

  • Conduct root cause analysis and develop action plans to support continuous quality improvement

  • Take ownership of product quality on the shop floor

Staffing:

  • Enforce company policies and procedures within the guidelines of the labor agreement

  • Liaise with the union to address complaints and grievances effectively

  • Provide strong leadership, direction, and training to help your team achieve company objectives

  • Support the Plant Manager in managing overtime and staffing needs

Qualifications

  • Your background includes solid management experience in a manufacturing environment

  • You bring expertise in manufacturing methods, process improvement programs, project management, and lean methodologies

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 basics is part of your skillset

  • Your proficiency in Microsoft Suite and familiarity with Operating Systems (preferably Epicor) for shop floor data collection set you apart

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field would be an asset

  • Five or more years of plant supervision or general management experience in manufacturing would be welcome

Physical Requirements

This role involves:

  • Frequent standing, walking, and sitting

  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds
