State of Montana Budget Analyst 2 (07004) in Helena, Montana

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Early Childhood and Family Support Division. The ECFSD provides coordinated services and resources to promote well-being and support the health and development of children, individuals, families, and communities. This budget analyst position performs professional consultative and budget analysis work for financial and related operational functions of the bureaus within. In coordination with management, this position forecasts revenue, performs preliminary analysis for budget preparation, develops and monitors vast and complex budgets for existing programs and new programs as they arise. The current major programs for include Child Care Development Fund grants (CCDF), Child Care, Early Learning and Support programs, Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), HeadStart, Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children Section (WIC), Home Visiting, Children’s Special Health Services, Maternal Child Health, Adolescent Health and Family Planning. Qualifications for this Career Opportunity * * * Knowledge of accounting systems, including accounts payable, general ledger, and human resources query functions. * Knowledge of budgeting, governmental accounting, statistical methods, and analytical techniques. * Attention to detail, good judgment, and critical thinking skills. * Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data and develop solutions * Meet minimum qualifications: o Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field. o Three years of progressively responsible experience with accounting, budget analysis, budget preparation/budget development, and monitoring or financial management. o SABHRS knowledge is preferred. o Certified Public Accounting (CPA)certificate is preferred. o Equivalent combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis. * * How to Apply To be considered for a DPHHS position, submit the following required documents with your application on the State of Montana Careers website.
