Summary

Electrical plant reliability engineer is responsible for development, strategic management, operability and maintainability of power distribution and electrical assets across the site. They will be aligned to Plant Engineering Team and responsible for maximizing reliability of electrical assets by driving defect elimination using Root Cause Analysis skills, technical knowledge, troubleshooting and project support. They will work with the Reliability Technical Leader for the area on both technical and point of work mentoring, coaching, and oversight to manage maintenance and reliability performance.

Essential Functions

  • Provide maintenance, safety, and engineering support for all power distribution equipment. Main interface with plant operations power systems and utility company. Knowledge of application, operation troubleshooting of power distribution systems, such as:
    • Distribution of industrial voltages of 480V, 5kV, 15kV and 35kV
    • Switchgear, breakers, contactors, and switchgear control systems
    • Power distribution transformers
    • Power metering
    • System protection equipment and evaluation
    • Generators
    • Automatic Transfer switches
    • Low and medium voltage distribution cabling
  • Provide maintenance, and engineering support for all building power system applications of industrial electrical equipment, such as:
    • General circuits & electronics
    • Building Wiring & Feeder Circuits
    • Lighting
    • Variable Speed Drives
    • Low and medium voltage motors
    • Low & medium voltage Motor Control Centers
    • UPS
    • Small Transformers
  • Provide maintenance, and engineering support for all electrical process heating applications, which includes skills such as:
    • Power electronics
    • Control systems
    • Interface with all types of communication systems
    • Methodologies of power control systems
  • Application of distributed control systems and programmable logic controllers.
  • Ensures availability of physical assets.
  • Drives recovery from electrical upsets.
  • Monitors, reports, and responds to defined reliability KPIs.
  • Verifies the effectiveness of operator performed preventative maintenance. Reviews technical findings and adjusts long-term plans accordingly.
  • Leads Level 0-1 root cause investigations.
  • Participates in project and Management of Change reliability reviews.
  • Supports the definition and implementation of maintain and reliability improvement projects within defined workflows.
