Mental Health Association of Nassau County Veteran Peer Facilitator in Hempstead, New York

Position: Veterans Peer Facilitator Category: Non-exempt Department: Veterans Programs Employment Status: Per Diem Finger Printing Required: Yes Driving: Yes The Veterans Peer Facilitator will conduct Veteran peer support groups in various locations in Nassau County. Position is anticipated to be funded for 12 months by the PFC Dwyer Peer Support Grant from the state of New York. Conduct Peer Support Groups in various locations in Nassau County. Conduct public speaking at veterans groups and other social service organizations to publicize services. Operate in a mobile capacity to engage with veterans when needed Interact individually with veterans to recommend referrals to other benefits and services. Respond to urgent situations as needed. Conduct documentation as required. Complete training as required. Perform other duties as requested. Reports to: Veterans Program Coordinator HS diploma required. Bachelors Degree / Masters Degree preferred. Must be a Veteran. Lived experience with trauma and recovery preferred. Mental Health Association of Nassau County, Inc. Microsoft Word, Outlook, Internet, Data entry. Must have home computer and internet access. Must have own cell phone. Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
