Mental Health Association of Nassau County Veteran Program Manager in Hempstead, New York

Position: Veteran Program Manager Category: Non-exempt Department: Veterans Programs Employment Status: Full Time Finger Printing Required: Yes Driving: Yes The Veteran Program Manager is responsible for the development and enhancement of services provided to Veterans in Nassau County. Some weekend hours may be required if deemed necessary. Conduct Vet2Vet Peer Support Groups in various locations in Nassau County. Conduct program outreach at Veterans Stand Down, National Guard Yellow Ribbon, and other veteran benefit fairs and events. Conduct public speaking at veterans groups and other social service organizations to publicize services. Operate in a mobile capacity to engage with veterans when needed. Interact individually with veterans to recommend referrals to other benefits and services. Respond to urgent situations as needed. Conduct documentation as required. Develop conferences, workshops, awareness initiatives to educate and support the Veteran community. Develop Veteran peer support groups creating safe spaces for the community to enhance outcomes. Oversee the implementation of Veteran peer support groups and initiatives. Attract, supervise, train, and develop Veteran program staff. Utilize tools for quantitative and qualitative data collecting, monitoring categories of veterans needs and accumulate data. Mental Health Association of Nassau County, Inc. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide video calling, telephonic, as well as face to face outreach, engagement, and presentations in the field. Working with management, attends and participates in team meetings to provide input/feedback around what we need to incorporate to serve our veteran community and program goals. Create, oversee, and staff outreach events to assist in the attraction and retention of Veteran participants. Compile monthly monitoring reports and submits all necessary documentation according to applicable agency policy and/ or HIPAA standards to state agencies as necessary. Participate in trainings, educational and department projects as requested. Other duties as assigned Reports to: Director of Veteran Services Supervises: Veteran Peer Facilitators and Program Coordinator HS diploma required Bachelors Degree / Masters Degree preferred. Prior service in U.S. Military required. Prior mental health experience a plus. Veteran with lived experience and willingness to utilize personal experience to assist others in recovery Bachelors Degree Experience working with the mental health population Basic knowledge of community support services/resources/mental health service delivery system, preferred Working knowledge of Microsoft suite Demonstrated competency in written, verbal and computational skills to present and document records in accordance with program standards Knowledge of Medicaid, Social Security and other entitlements preferred Excellent interpersonal skills required Valid and clean New York State Drivers License, required Must have the ability and willingness to regularly travel a minimum of 50% SUPERVISION MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE UALIFICATIONS OTHER Clean NYS Drivers License, must have own transportation. Microsoft Word, Outlook, Internet, Data entry. Must have home computer and internet access. Must have own cell phone. Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
