Job Summary and Qualifications

Phlebotomist

The Phlebotomist performs blood draws on patients who need diagnostic testing and may perform EKGs for pre-procedure testing in Tower Pre-Admit Testing and Tower Ambulatory Care. The Phlebotomist is supervised by and works with the RNs to achieve timely pre-procedure blood draws and testing. The Phlebotomist must have interpersonal skills to successfully interact with patients, families, team members, physicians and ancillary staff.

Job Summary and Qualifications

  • You will demonstrate knowledge of physiology and function of the venous system of the human body, and collection techniques used to draw blood from patients.

  • You will collect blood samples from patients per laboratory policy and procedure.

  • You will decide the best method for drawing blood depending on the specific patient.

  • You will practice proper patient identification.

  • You will label blood vials according to established procedures including use of automated patient identification systems.

What qualifications you will need:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Completion of a certified phlebotomy course (strongly preferred)

  • Demonstrated phlebotomy experience

  • Interpersonal skills to successfully interact with all co-workers, staff, patients, patient families and vendors

  • Good phlebotomy, computer, and communication skills

TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center is a 150 bed hospital that has provided high-quality health care for over 40 years.
