ManTech DevOps Engineering Intern in Herndon, Virginia

ManTech’s Mission Intelligence Division is looking for a Junior DevOps Engineering Intern to join our team for the summer of 2024. This exciting opportunity will support the development of a proof of concept cloud based software solution. The successful candidate will be responsible for leveraging DevOps best practices in support of the development and deployment of the software solution. The ideal candidate will be motivated and engaged on the project and able to work collaboratively with the Tech Lead to rapidly iterate and deploy new capabilities to the solution. Work will primarily be performed onsite at the ManTech Herndon office with limited opportunities for remote work.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Support automated deployment of software capabilities to cloud infrastructure
Provide security engineering support to development team and ensure security of cloud environment
Advise development team on DevOps best practices including testing strategies, deployment strategies, system architecture
Provide monitoring, observability, and troubleshooting support to the solution engineering team
Provide recommendations to improve system capabilities and performance
Other related technical duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical study
0-2 years of work experience
US citizen with interest and ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance
Familiarity with software programming languages
Familiarity with cloud services and providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
Experience with DevOps tools to support build automation, testing, deployment, scanning, etc.
Experience with Linux operating systems
Experience with version control tools such as Git
Familiarity with Agile software development techniques
Ability to work independently or under generalized supervision with strong interpersonal and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications :
0-2 years of professional experience
Demonstrated experience with Python or JavaScript
Demonstrated experience deploying applications to AWS or other cloud providers
Familiarity with containers or similar virtualization technology
Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure as Code
Security Clearance Requirements:
- Individuals must be a U.S. Citizen and either hold an active US Security Clearance or must be eligible to obtain a US Security Clearance.
Physical Requirements:
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
