Amazon Software Development Manager, Amazon Integrated Security in Herndon, Virginia

Description

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Herndon, VA, USA

Come and build innovative services that protect our cloud from security threats. As the development manager, you'll lead a talented and nimble team of engineers. Responsibilities include direct management of 8+ engineers, process and quality of service improvements, strategic planning, project management for software within the team, and management of resources across teams. Successful candidates will be strong leaders who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery. You’ll work with managers, data scientists, security engineers, and other software development engineers across multiple teams to develop innovative security solutions at massive scale. Our services protect the AWS cloud for all customers and preserves our customers’ trust in us. You’ll get to use the full power and breadth of AWS technologies to build services that proactively protect every single AWS customer, both internally and externally, from security threats – not many teams can say that!

Key job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

· Responsible for the overall systems development life cycle

· Develop the long-term strategy for your programs and translate that into an achievable road map/action plan

· Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments

· Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment

· Management of departmental resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhancing and maintaining a best-of-class engineering team

· Work closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach

· Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of engineering experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
