Description

The Sr. System Planning Engineer for AWS Data Center Power Generation and transmission Infrastructure owns the successful delivery of the newest generations of data center energy innovations, and electrical power generation infrastructure technologies from concept to at-scale global implementation.

This role provides a unique opportunity to engage with advanced infrastructure solutions for HV/MV power systems and the exceptional people that develop them.

Key job responsibilities

Datacenter Engineering (DCE) Power Generation Solutions (PGS) is an engineering and technical strategy team that works to deliver energy innovations enabling reliable, available, and sustainable capacity to our growing business.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.

  • Eight (8) or more years performing Power Systems Engineering and Analysis or as a Power System Planner in an electric utility with Transmission system planning focused experience

  • Familiar with NERC, NPCC and ISO-NE transmission planning reliability standards

  • Understanding of ISO-NE Transmission Planning Process and Procedures

  • Ability to interface effectively and collaborate with clients, peers, project personnel, and all levels of management enterprise-wide to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in

  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering concepts such as reliability, load flow, stability, short circuit, voltage regulation, transients, power factor, losses, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, IBC, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA.

  • Knowledge of Carbon Neutrality and Global Net-Zero Carbon Objectives

  • Direct experience with the construction, operation, or maintenance of generation plants, energy storage assets, and substations.

  • Experience with Hyperscale Distributed Energy Projects

  • Experience with large-scale utility plant design and interconnection.

  • Capable of working in a highly fast-paced, ambiguous environment, managing conflicting priorities and deliverables.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
