JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Penn State Cancer Institute, (PSCI) Clinical Research Office, in Hershey, PA, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Compliance Specialist - Senior Professional. This person will serve as the Chief Educator for Clinical Research in the PSCI. Education and training are vital to ensuring compliance with policies and procedures set forth by the Pennsylvania State University, the College of Medicine, the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, local and central IRB(s), the FDA and other agencies and stakeholders charged with the regulation of clinical research. This position will be responsible for strategies in training and education of clinical research staff and investigators in the Penn State Cancer Institute to ensure compliance with clinical research in cancer. This position will report directly to PSCI Associate Director for Clinical Research, with additional indirect reports in our matrix organization. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide overall leadership, management, planning, and strategic direction to a broad portfolio of educational and training initiatives. Develop and manage internal and external relationships including those with academic and administrative units and the health system. Provide feedback on individuals and subunits involved in cancer clinical research. Provide guidance to the clinical research quality assurance program. Oversee education quality and regularly assesses the educational needs within the Penn State Cancer Institute. Develop and maintain a tracking system to ensure initial and ongoing job competencies, in alignment and collaboration with offices in the College of Medicine. Work on quality and performance improvement processes and initiatives to enhance the Cancer Institute clinical research program and ensure both the output of its work and the quality of its work, working closely with and following guidance from the Office of the Vice Dean of the College of Medicine. Observe and support clinical research coordinators and others as they interact with human subjects on clinical trials. May directly supervise several individuals in the future, as the program grows.
Education and Experience: This position requires a minimum of education of a Bachelor's Degree and 6+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master's Degree is preferred, plus 8 or more years of related clinical research experience. Experience in both patient facing and non-patient facing aspects of clinical research is important.
Additional preferred qualifications include: Experience working in a formal teaching environment, with or without a teaching certificate as well as previous experience in an academic cancer center.
This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, withpossibility of refunding.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is: $68,200.00 - $102,300.00
