JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Pediatric Oncology in Hershey, PA is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar.

About Us:

Beat Childhood Cancer Research Consortium at Pennsylvania State University is a leading pediatric translational oncology research lab dedicated to advancing our understanding of childhood cancers and developing innovative therapeutic strategies. Our multidisciplinary team of scientists, clinicians, and healthcare professionals collaborates to bridge the gap between laboratory discoveries and clinical applications, with the ultimate goal of improving outcomes for pediatric cancer patients.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge translational research projects focused on pediatric oncology, with a specific emphasis on translating laboratory findings into clinical applications. This position provides a unique opportunity for a talented researcher to work at the intersection of basic science and clinical medicine in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research in the field of pediatric oncology, with an emphasis on translational applications.

  • Design and execute experiments, utilizing a variety of techniques such as molecular biology, cell culture, and animal models, to investigate the underlying mechanisms of pediatric cancers.

  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, and contribute to the development of novel therapeutic approaches for pediatric oncology.

  • Collaborate with clinicians to integrate research findings into clinical practice and participate in multidisciplinary research meetings.

  • Stay current with relevant literature, attend scientific conferences, and present research findings at local and national meetings.

  • Contribute to the preparation of research publications, grant applications, and progress reports.

  • Mentor and train junior lab members, including graduate students, research technicians, and interns.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.

  • Strong background in pediatric oncology research, with expertise in relevant experimental techniques.

  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present research findings.

  • Track record of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals is preferred.

  • Experience with grant writing and research funding applications is preferred.

This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire.
