Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Position Purpose:

The Process Engineer II is responsible for improving existing manufacturing processes for performance and cost using fundamental knowledge on materials, equipment, and process control. This role supports and/or leads projects on new product or process receivership, cost reduction, equipment installs and debug, and system continuous improvement activities. Solving manufacturing process issues through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with other team members, including subject matter experts. Documents and communicates lessons learned and knowledge gained from projects across different organizations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors in the following Engineering Disciplines: Materials, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Ceramic Engineering or related

  • 2+ years’ working in engineering within processing

  • Ability to use scientific method and engineering principles to solve problems thoroughly and effectively, using well-designed and executed processes

  • Ability to work effectively on all levels of an organization

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, and Minitab, or equivalent

Desired Skills:

  • Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification

  • Knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting

  • Project management capabilities

  • Master's degree in engineering

  • Proficient in Microsoft Access

Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering-level production support to manufacturing operation and actively engage in plant safety initiatives and projects

  • Provide engineering expertise for fundamental understanding of manufacturing issues

  • Develop and maintain systems to monitor and proactively address equipment/process performance, including trend analysis and implementation plans

  • Receive and integrate new technologies to improve process capability while ensuring proper processes are followed during transfer

The range for this position is $78,902.00 - $108,490.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
