National Grid is hiring a Lead Project Manager. The role will be located in our Hicksville, NY office.

Job Purpose

* This posting is to fill vacancies for the Maintenance Supervisor role in Mechanical, Structural, and Insulation Services sections of the MSD organization.
* The duties of Maintenance Supervisor include planning, execution, and follow through of all work associated with Generation facilities assigned to the MSD organization.
* This discipline combines two roles in one. The first role is that of a planner who, through their technical expertise, plans the workflow process during overhauls. The second role is to provide matrixed direct field supervision and expertise to the MSD foreman to implement the plan during the overhaul period.
* During periods of non-overhaul, the Supervisors are assigned responsibilities for projects within the upcoming overhaul period, capital projects and non-overhaul work assigned to MSD.
* The Supervisors are assigned responsibilities for completing Unit Overhauls, Safely, on time, and within budget.
* This position reports directly to the site Outage Manager.
* Requires significant field presence at assigned power plant locations to complete all responsibilities.

Key Accountabilities

* Provides completely planned work package with an individual knowledgeable in all aspects of the project.
* Utilizing their technical expertise.
* Requires removal from the direct supervision of personnel to all their full attention to be devoted to the planning process.
* Provide input to Engineering during the design phase of new projects in order to ensure proper work practices and overall workability of the project.
* Reviews technical specifications and documents for constructability.
* Anticipates potential problems during constructability reviews and during construction. Recommends/initiates appropriate corrective actions.
* Complete in-house coordination and implementation of the Overhaul/Repair process.
* Standardizes processes throughout Power Plant Operations in order to complete the projects in an expedited manner.
* Coordinates the planning of projects which are beyond the scope of the MSD workforce, but which fall in the boundaries of the Outage/Overhaul with outside vendor and contract management.
* Direct the allocation of personnel (through the respective crew foreman) to provide necessary skills required to complete the work in the field.
* Plan work assignments to maintain budgets and budget controls.
* Administer contracts with vendors and contractors.
* Administer the Company Policies and Procedures on both the supervisory and contract level.
* Perform budgetary projections, track, and analyze expenditures.
* Coordinate MSD resources utilizing the P6 Project Planning tool to provide an accurate reflection of the progress on all work to the respective Power Plant Management to ensure adherence to overhaul schedules.
* Tracking overall schedule and providing changes in scope (with duration impact and budgetary estimates) to plant and MSD management as soon as they occur.
* Essential for the coordination/allocation of resources across all Plant Locations.
* Provides point of contact to immediate address issues (for internal customers) as they arise.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent 5 years experience in Power Plant Operations covering all types of steam, gas turbine and diesel generator unit technologies.
* In-depth knowledge of scheduling, cost control, project management techniques, turbine generator maintenance, labor relations and contractor work practices are required.
* Candidates possess extensive experience in power station construction, operation and maintenance.

Salary

$139,000 - $164,000 a year
