Location/Division Specific Information:

Our Hillsboro site produces world-class electron microscopes used by scientists and engineers to drive innovation around the globe. This role works to produce-high quality components used in the world’s finest tools used by researches like Nobel prize winners and the teams who imaged the COVID-19 virus.

How Will You Make an Impact?:

A Day in the Life:

  • Provides blocking issue support for assembly and test teams as directed by Operations Engineering.

  • Assists Operations Engineers on both improvement and new product projects as they transition from concept through release according to PMP and MDP process.

  • Assists in the training of Manufacturing personnel in new product build, existing product improvements, testing, install and repair procedures. May help develop sophisticated procedures under the guidance of Operations Engineering personnel.

  • May provide insight or implement engineering changes to support factory production as needed to achieve yield and cost goals.

  • Provide design inputs for tools and test fixtures as needed to support and improve factory capabilities. Work with operations engineers to determine needed improvements and help with the engineering and implementation.

  • Perform hands-on assembly and testing as required during project work (i.e., assembly, test or measurement, problem solving)

Education:

  • University degree in a technical field, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required skills.

  • Equivalent military background or a combination of equivalent experience to demonstrate required skills also recognized.

Experience:

  • At least 10 plus total years of manufacturing or mechanical technician experience is required.

  • Previous experience in a clean room environment is required.

  • Experience with Windows-based and MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook and Access) is required

  • Experience in lean manufacturing, 5S and continuous improvement is a plus.

  • Background in precision PMs with chambers – example PVC/ CVD tools, sophisticated manufacturing processes is preferred.

  • Previous experience using test equipment preferred (ex: digital multimeters, oscilloscopes)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to read detailed drawings and perform basic analysis of electronic and mechanical assembly problems at the component and system level

  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment using appropriate PPE

  • Ability to analyze and solve problems independently as well as collaboratively

  • Ability to support projects and perform training

  • Self-motivated, self-starter with strong organizational skills

  • Strong communication skills (technical and general), successful in partnering with colleagues of differing cultural, language and educational backgrounds

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs

  • Ability to sit or stand for at least 2 hours at a time

  • 2nd shift hours: 2-10:30PM (initial training will be conducted during day shift hours, duration to be determined based on training progress)
