SIGMADESIGN has collaborated with a custom manufacturer seeking an experienced Lead Metal Fabricator to join their facility in Hillsboro, OR. This company opened in 1979, and since that time has been doing quality manufacturing, machining, and assembly work for their customers.  They are currently in a state of growth and have opened 4 branches in 4 years, offering advancement opportunities for their employees.

  • PTO Policy: Employees receive 40 hours of PTO after 90 days. After one year, an additional 40 hours are granted (totaling 80 hours). In the second year, another 40 hours are added (120 hours total). Each subsequent year, 8 additional hours are accrued annually until reaching a maximum of 160 hours of PTO.

  • Bonus Program: Monthly bonuses are based on delivered parts and forecast objectives, with amounts ranging from $300, $500, $700 and $1,000, depending on workload and deliverables met.

  • $70,000 - $110,000 annually

  • Monday – Friday, flexible hours

    Primary Function:

    The Lead Metal Fabricator is responsible for overseeing daily fabrication operations, mentoring a team of fabricators, and collaborating with engineers to produce high-quality components. This role combines hands-on welding expertise with leadership to ensure efficient workflows, troubleshoot challenges, and maintain production standards.

    Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:

  • Perform expert MIG and TIG welding on stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel. Set up equipment and prepare materials for precision fabrication.

  • Operate CNC machines, plasma cutters, and precision measurement tools like laser systems and CMMs.

  • Train, mentor, and oversee fabricators while ensuring safety, efficiency, and adherence to quality standards.

  • Work with engineers to refine designs, resolve fabrication challenges, and improve processes.

  • Inspect finished products for accuracy and quality, addressing any issues promptly.

    Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in metal fabrication, with advanced proficiency in MIG and TIG welding.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD designs, and engineering drawings; expertise in advanced measurement tools like laser systems and CMMs.

  • Proven experience managing and mentoring teams in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for welding defects, material issues, and workflow optimization.

  • Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials and standing for extended periods.

  • Background check required upon acceptance of an offer.

    Work Environment:

    Standard machine shop environment with various types of machinery. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
