Vibration Engineer

(Contract)

SIGMADESIGN has collaborated with a global manufacturing seeking an experienced Vibration Engineer to join their facility in Hillsboro, OR. This company offers services and manufactures technology that supports the scientific industry. This position is a contract with an expected duration of 6 months.

    Primary Function:

    The Vibration Engineer specializes in vibration and thermal design, playing a crucial role in developing advanced, high-precision microscopes. This position involves taking mechanical designs from initial concept through to production, ensuring projects meet cost, quality, and timeline goals. Key tasks include conducting vibration and acoustic analysis, thermal management, and using FEA simulations to optimize structural and acoustic performance.

    Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:

  • Serve as technical subject matter expert in the areas of vibration and thermal design, analysis and testing.

  • Contribute to the hardware development of highly customized, multi-million dollar microscopes with sub-nanometer resolution by working closely with, and learning from, world class Marketing, Project Management, Operations, suppliers, and engineers and scientists of a diverse set of backgrounds.

  • Mechanical development from requirements to production release with concept layout, detailed design, analysis and testing as appropriate.

  • Make and meet project cost, quality and schedule work you're doing.

  • Support release to production.

  • Provide innovative solutions to design challenges.

    Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • 5+ years of meaningful Mechanical Engineering experience.

  • Thermal characterization and analysis, cooling system design, mechanical analysis, problem solving, integration, vibration analysis and testing.

  • Strong emphasis on Vibration analysis, Acoustic enclosure design, and troubleshooting.

  • Proficient in performing FEA simulations and analyzing the structural and acoustic behavior of enclosures.

  • Precision machine design proficiency, including capital equipment design for the semiconductor FAB.

  • Experience or familiarity with microscopy, vacuum, contamination, charged particle optics, high voltage, ceramics, and/or automation.

  • Experience in performing modal analysis and providing valuable insight into the dynamic characteristics of a structure.

  • Post offer background check required.

    Work Environment:

    Standard office environment with normal amounts of office related conditions. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation.  Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients or suppliers.
