The Employment Services Program Coordinator (EC) at Full Life offers a unique opportunity to support individuals and students with a spectrum of disabilities in integrated, competitive, or customized employment.

The ideal candidate for this role will be passionate about working with adults and youth with intellectual/developmental disabilities and other disabilities and their families, empowering them to reach their full potential and make valuable contributions to their community and the world around them.

The Employment Program Coordinator (EC) manages Full Life's island-wide employment services programs in partnership with the Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Waiver programs and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Division. The Employment Services Coordinator assists in the implementation of employment programs with the goal of growing employment options for people with disabilities. The employment services coordinator provides direct services as needed, such as job development, job coaching, pre-ETS (high school transition services), and other duties as required.

The Employment Program Coordinator (EC) is responsible for assessing the interests, capabilities, and support needs of participants seeking employment and helping them obtain individualized, integrated, competitive employment opportunities or customized employment in the community.

What You'll Bring:

  • Supervision and management skills to support a variety of employment services direct support employees and other employment services professional staff.
  • Management and implementation of programs that result in employment for people with disabilities
  • Understanding of best practices for employment services for people with I/DD and other disabilities, including customized employment, community building, networking, job development, assessments, job coaching, career counseling, job readiness skills, self-advocacy, etc.
  • Participating in planning meetings with participants, students, families, and State of Hawaii Staff members.
  • Facilitating referrals through the Department of Health Developmental Disabilities Division, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, and Department of Education.
  • Working in partnership with employers to increase job opportunities for persons with disabilities by conducting informational interviews, job site analyses, and proactive negotiations with employers for job creation, job carving, and other customized employment arrangements.
  • Conducting employment opportunities with person-centered planning strategies with the student/participant.
  • Providing or ensuring job attainment skills practice, including interview practice, resume or portfolio development, and community presentations as needed to promote the customized employment services available through partnerships.
  • Create and participate in customized support planning meetings to ensure that specific employer are identified on an individual basis stemming from information from the discovery process.
  • Collect and document data on service delivery, such as types of jobs obtained by participants, information needed to secure employment, supportive services used, community resources used, and follow-up data.
  • Consulting with professional staff, employers, and community partners as needed to evaluate possible benefits of the use of adaptive equipment that will enhance quality of life and vocational potential and preparing recommendations for specific adaptive equipment.
  • Planning and scheduling duties in a manner conducive to a positive experience for the participant, as well as efficient use of time and effort.
  • Clarifying objectives and developing participant job development and placement plans, adhering to federal, state, and local provisions related to job placement, collecting and maintaining placement and other statistical reports, and detailed participant records in compliance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Provide counseling and other assistance to help the participant retain employment and conduct outreach and orientation sessions to local businesses.
  • Ensuring the highest level of confidentiality for all program participants.
  • Assist the Director of People with organization and coordination of job fairs and performing other work-related duties as assigned.
  • Reviewing referral information, establishing professional rapport, performing timely intake interviews, and developing/maintaining individual plans for employment with all participants.
  • Actively worked with participants and supported team members to determine communication style, transportation needs, job limitations, independent living needs, social supports, and challenges to job retention, maintaining a caseload size that is programmatically appropriate and ensuring timely delivery of services.
  • Developing or maintaining knowledge of community resources and assistive technology relevant to persons served, as well as knowledge of ADA guidelines pertaining to a person on the spectrum's rights as related to employment and accommodations in the workplace.
  • Assist in the implementation of various program projects that can support participants across the island, specifically with networking, developing content material, and promoting outreach.
  • Actively working with participants to develop job search skills such as job readiness, interviewing, application completion, resume development, job retention, etc.
  • Spending time in the community making employer contacts, including connections (in-person and over the phone or online), making presentations, and following up on those contacts.
  • Ensuring documentation of all work with participants in progress notes, maintaining participant files with notes and other agency paperwork, and performing other duties as assigned.
  • Writing various reports required by State of Hawaii partners.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school is required. A degree in a related field is preferred.

  • If a bachelor's degree is outside of the Social Services or Education fields of study, one year of verifiable experience working with persons with disabilities or the elderly is required.

Current TB Clearance;

Current CPR and First Aid clearance,

No history/conviction of abuse, neglect, theft, or other job-related crimes;

Must meet Full Life requirements for drug test and criminal background/records check;

ACRE Employment Certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire (Full Life to support the cost of the program).
