Job Overview

The Data Specialist will understand and analyze the company’s financial and operational data, providing analysis and reporting to stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with all levels of the company to coordinate, analyze, prepare and present data to assure profitability, including routine analysis and special project analysis.

  • Identify key performance indicators that are relevant: develop reports that are user friendly and communicate their relevance.

  • Use data science and business optimization to identify inefficiencies and improve profitability.

  • Complete analysis to maximize financial and operational performance: use predictive, diagnostic, descriptive and prescriptive analytics.

  • Acquire data from primary and secondary sources: maintain with IT and Master Data Group.

  • Interpret data to identify trends and patterns and effectively communicate patterns.

  • Prepare weekly and monthly volume reporting for management.

  • Work with BI-IT team to ensure timely and accurate dashboards.

  • Prepare weekly operations reporting and analyze data for KPI’s, including production and shipping volume, efficiencies, trim, giveaway and labor hours for all facilities by work center.

  • Responsible for identifying KPI outliers, determining root cause of variances and communicating to senior leadership

  • Perform monthly analysis on Maintenance & Repair (MRO) spending and inventory on hand quantities.

  • Prepare and analyze monthly Cost Center reports in both dollars and ratios for all facilities, year over year and to recent history – must understand the multiple cost centers and General Ledger accounting

  • Review production and consumption of customer owned cheese weekly and address any discrepancies

  • Support various department (i.e. Operations, Procurement) with in-depth analysis.

  • Provide other ad hoc reporting and analyses as necessary to support the organization

  • Other duties as assigned by the manager.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • General understanding of manufacturing processes.

  • Must be legally authorized to work for a company in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of business analyst or cost accounting experience in a complex manufacturing environment.

  • SAP experience.

  • Ability to make sound, independent decisions based on management expertise and experience.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in an office setting.

• Occasional exposure to industrial operations including: temperature extremes from approximately 35ºF to 100ºF; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery.
