Robert Half Staff Accountant in Hoiuston, Texas

Description

We are seeking a Staff Accountant for our team based in Houston, Texas. This role involves ensuring the adequacy and accuracy of balance sheet accounts, bank accounts, and payables. The successful candidate will also be responsible for handling general ledger account balances, collecting and booking credit card transactions, and ensuring proper accounting and reporting of sales taxes among other duties.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled and reviewed before the close of each month.

• Reconcile all bank accounts and book entries accordingly.

• Ensure all payables, for both the firm and client pass-through expenses, are current and accounted for.

• Receive and input all W-9’s into the system, ensuring all year-end 1099 reporting is complete and sent to the outside CPA firm after review.

• Insure all general ledger account balances have relevant contract-based balances, including leases and buildouts.

• Collect and book all credit card transactions in a timely manner.

• Record, book, apply, and refund overpayments and credits as directed by the Director for Revenue Cycle, Billing, and Collections.

• Accrue all prepaids, insurance contracts, and receivables.

• Ensure proper accounting, disposition, and reporting of sales taxes.

• Account for stale checks and payments.

• Learn and apply advanced level general ledger accounting.

• Utilize Excel and excellent communication skills to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Requirements • Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar

• Proficient in Month End Close processes

• Demonstrable experience with General Ledger management

• Strong competence in Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation

• Capable of performing Bank Account Reconciliation

• Adept in using accounting software and technologies

• Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field

• Professional certification such as CPA is preferred

• Experience in the Defense Service industry is a plus

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
