JOB SUMMARY:

As a Manufacturing Process Technician at Magna Engineered Glass, you will provide essential technical support to our production team throughout all manufacturing phases. Your role includes actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing cycle times and minimizing downtime due to setup, change-overs, processes, and tooling.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs start-up and shut-down of plastic injection molding machines and ensures that all sub systems (i.e., water, materials, heaters, robots, etc.) are operational.

  • Debugs and troubleshoots injection molding process problems for new or existing products to continuously improve part quality and yields.

  • Minimize downtime related to die changes and process setup.

  • Swiftly respond to issues or concerns raised by the production team.

  • Document process adjustments correctly.

  • Develop and revise processes for new programs.

  • Conduct end-of-arm-tooling setup, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

  • Handle hazardous waste material responsibly.

  • Participate in cleaning and preventive maintenance tasks.

  • Contribute to problem-solving and continuous improvement activities.

  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies and regulations.

Level 1:

  • Basic troubleshooting of equipment and processes, including injection molding, dispense systems and assembly fixtures.

  • Primary responsibility for mold changeovers.

  • Take ownership of process documentation

  • Navigate the Human Machine Interface (HMI)

  • Complete preventative maintenance activities as assigned or directed.

  • Familiarity with pneumatic systems and equipment.

Level 2:

  • Same as above, plus:

  • Advanced troubleshooting of equipment and processes

  • Develops and documents standardized processes for various operations.

  • Basic repair of manufacturing fixtures and equipment.

  • Basic troubleshooting of vision systems, sensors and robotics.

  • Troubleshoot glass breakage in molding processes.

  • Complete projects with some supervision.

Level 3:

  • Same as above, plus:

  • Recommend changes for improved efficiencies to the Engineering department. This includes but is not limited to tool modifications, robotics, and injection molding machine process changes.

  • Conducts and plans tests and experiments which may require minor modifications in equipment setup and/or process parameters.

  • Advanced development of manufacturing processes for new products.

  • Complete projects independently, with minimal supervision.

  • Troubleshoot molding machine hydraulic systems.

  • Interpret mechanical drawings as needed to troubleshoot equipment.

REQUIREMENTS:

Level 1:

  • 3-5 years of experience working in a technical role in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to troubleshoot, update, and work on equipment and systems in the area of responsibility.

  • Good interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.

Level 2:

  • 1-2+ years of experience working at Level 1 or a similar role, or a combination of relevant education and experience.

  • Proficiency in injection molding, with preference given to experience with RJG systematic molding.

  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team, demonstrating professionalism at all times.

Level 3:

  • 3-5+ years of experience at Level 2 or a similar role, or a combination of relevant education and experience.

  • Proficiency in ABB Level 1 Robot training.

  • Demonstrated strong teamwork capabilities and excellent professionalism.

  • Proficient project management and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to set direction and work with minimal supervision.

  • Advanced injection molding skills, with preference given to experience with RJB Advanced Edart and Master Molder 1.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, employees are required to:

  • Frequent verbal communication in a manufacturing environment

  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the day.

  • Frequently lift and/or move items weighing over 50 pounds.
