Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Transportation Construction Inspector in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania

DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this role, you will undertake a range of technical responsibilities related to the inspection of materials and workmanship on highway construction projects within Engineering District 9-0, ensuring that all activities adhere to the established construction codes, plans, standards, and specifications. You will be involved in examining every stage of transportation construction work, collaborating with contractors and surveyors to verify grades, elevations, and the proper staking of structures and roadways. Your duties will also include inspecting the application of various materials, including cement concrete, bituminous concrete, drainage materials, and other relevant substances. Additionally, you will conduct compaction testing using a visual non-movement method to assess the integrity of sub-surface strata, soils, aggregates, and similar materials.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Hollidaysburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as an Engineering Technician (commonwealth title); or

Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (commonwealth titles); or Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirement: This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
