Fortive Corporation NDT Tech Level II (Weekend Shift) in Hollister, California

The Responsible RT Level II (also known as an NDT Technician) performs all tasks associated with industrial radiography. This role is key to ensuring the procedures and specifications are met prior to, during and after x-ray examination. Other key functions this role is responsible for includes:

  • Non-destructive testing.

  • Serves as the Responsible Level II for Xray at the CH and HL sites.

  • Ensure that the procedures and applicable specifications are met prior to, during, and after x-ray examination.

  • Interpret codes, standards, specifications, and procedures.

  • Be familiar with codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the method as utilized by the employer.

  • Review of NDT requirements.

  • Approve the sequence of NDT operations.

  • NDT procedure development and approval.

  • NDT technique development/review and approval.

  • Training of NDT personnel.

  • Supervise NDT Level 1, technicians.

  • Examination of NDT personnel.

  • Develop written instructions for radiography from approved general procedures.

  • Designate the particular NDT method, technique, and procedures to be used.

  • Able to perform all tasks associated with industrial radiography per ASTM E1742 (film) and ASTM E2698 (DDA) including, but not limited to:

  • Conduct process control checks.

  • Setting up the radiograph exposures.

  • Processing radiographs/radiographic images.

  • Interpreting radiographs/radiographic images.

  • Evaluate for acceptance or rejection.

  • Troubleshooting of Xray test equipment, including Xray emitter and detection equipment.

  • Ability to interface with Xray equipment suppliers to resolve equipment issues.

  • Document results.

  • Cognizant of all safety aspects of radiography.

  • Shall approve the training course outline for the NDT methods and document the approval within.

  • In-depth knowledge of NADCAP audit criteria and certification.

  • Calibration monitoring.

  • Interface with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and customers.

  • Support NDT audits per NADCAP or customer specific requirements.

  • Support Nray interpretation, Nray procedure support and Nray technique creation per ASTM E545 and ASTM E748.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications – External/internal:

  • High school or equivalent with the following requirements:

  • 4 Years documented as a RT (film) Level 2 per NAS410 (or equivalent)

  • Or 4 Years documented as a RT (digital) Level 2 per NAS410 (or equivalent)

  • 40 hours formal training to NAS410 for either film or non-film 80 hours formal training for both film and non-film

  • 1000 hours on the job experience in radiography.

  • Ability to obtain a certificate in Hazardous Material/Waste and Transportation.

  • Ability to obtain a DOD security clearance if required.

  • NADCAP audit

  • Basic computer skills required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

This position is also eligible for bonus as part of the total compensation package.

The salary range for this position (in local currency) is 75,600 - 140,400. Base pay offered may vary depending on various factors, including, but not limited to: job-related knowledge; skills; experience; and other eligibility factors such as geographic location.
