Fortive Corporation NPD Manufacturing Engineer in Hollister, California

As a Manufacturing Engineer with Pacific Scientific EMC, you will be tasked with analyzing, developing, implementing, and maintaining methods, manufacturing operation sequences, specifications, and equipment requirements for production/assembly of new and existing products. Assist with sustaining and released product in manufacturing, with focus on metrics such as efficiency, safety, quality, productivity, and cost.

  • Reviews and interprets product design drawings and develops work instructions and process procedures to enable operational personnel to produce products in accordance with design specifications.

  • Develops process routings and labor standards for use in proposal cost estimating and shop floor control scheduling requirements.

  • Prepares labor, material, tooling, and equipment cost estimates for proposals.

  • Develops and implements production process layouts and production readiness plans.

  • Develops capital equipment specifications and supports capital equipment justification, installation, and start-up.

  • Designs tooling and fixturing for use in the production and inspection of company products.

  • Implements statistical process control and conducts process capability studies on critical processes.

  • Participates in design reviews to ensure the manufacturability of proposed designs.

  • Conducts process audits and time studies of existing processes for optimization and elimination of waste.

  • Conducts periodic Kaizen events.

  • Creates MPs, DCNs, and SWIs for new and sustaining products, working with Doc Control and the Tech Writers to develop and implement into production.

  • Develops PHA (process hazard analysis) for required process’ in the production facility.

  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen processes to improve the waste and efficiency of the production cells and process’.

  • PFMEA – The M.E. should be involved and capable of leading Process FMEAs for processes in your respective areas that present quality risks. Should be able to understand the PFMEA process and work through the analysis of risks presented within the respective team (MQE, ME, DE, FFM, Operator, etc.).

  • Manufacturability – The M.E. should have the experience to assist in the development and handoff of new products to ensure manufacturability. Should be able to use your experience and knowledge of the capabilities of the manufacturing floor and be able to make suggestions and push back to design in areas where the product design/requirements are not manufacturable.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in a technical and manufacturing environment, preferably in the aerospace/defense industry; ordnance experience preferred but not required.

  • Knowledge of the IPC and Military standards for high reliability electronics manufacturing

  • Strong electronics engineering background

  • Familiar with mechanical engineering aspects of electronic product assembly

  • Possess SMT knowledge

  • SolidWorks/AutoCAD experience required.

  • Strong problem-solving skills required.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering Discipline

This position is also eligible for bonus as part of the total compensation package.

The salary range for this position (in local currency) is 119,640.00 - 222,000.00. Base pay offered may vary depending on various factors, including, but not limited to: job-related knowledge; skills; experience; and other eligibility factors such as geographic location. The Total Rewards package includes competitive base pay and an opportunity to enroll in a variety of benefit programs, generally including health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and several programs that provide for both paid and unpaid time away from work.
