Jacobs Aviation Project Manager in Honolulu, Hawaii

Our Aviation Team is seeking an experienced civil engineering Aviation Project Manager to support our growing aviation practice in the Northwest Region of the U.S. In this key role, we’ll look to you to lead civil/structural engineering projects, provide excellent client service, manage quality, and perform in a team environment. With a focus on major and regional airports in Hawaii, projects will include, and are not limited to airfield improvements, land/site development, and other transportation tasks.

When you join us, you’ll manage and lead the ongoing progress of projects, including the coordination of the project with the client, subconsultants, and other outside agencies as needed. We’ll ask you to work with our senior aviation practice leads to conceptualize the initial civil design approach for major phases of land/site development, airfield improvements, related projects, and have overall responsibility for the civil engineering work.

You will utilize your expertise to plan and conduct work requiring evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation/ modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Additionally, you’ll use advanced techniques to modify and extend civil engineering theories, precepts and practices.

As our Aviation Project Manager, you will resolve a variety of complex problems, (i.e. conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements) and develop resilient solutions.

When you join us, additional responsibilities will include:

• Building client business opportunities and support project proposal teams through proposal development

• Supervising the design tasks and drive the ongoing progress of a project, including the coordination of the project with the client, City, State, and County officials, and other outside agencies as needed.

• Leading, coordinating and reviewing the work of less experienced engineers and/or technical support personnel assigned to the project.

• Participating in contract bidding and administration; observe project action on site.

• Provide mentorship to more junior staff

• Scope and develop level of effort for new projects

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE or equivalent)

• Professional Engineering (P.E.) certification in Hawaii

• At least 8 years of progressive experience as a design engineer, assistant project manager, design manager, or project manager in the airfield design/construction industry.

• Previous project management experience within a consulting environment, and the ability to demonstrate Project Leadership experience

• Experience working with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam and CAE tools and work products

• Experience with the development of reports, plans and specifications using FAA, UFC, or ICAO guidance

Ideally, you’ll also have:

• Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering

• Airfield civil engineering design experience

• Established local client experience in Hawaii

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a designer for aviation projects

• Experience with multi-discipline infrastructure engineering design and construction projects with an emphasis on airfield development and rehabilitation projects

• Previous work experience delivering projects under FAA AIP program requirements

• Previous work experience with navigating federal and state permitting agencies and requirements
