Actalent Project Engineer in Honolulu, Hawaii

Actalent is in search of a tenured project engineer who is looking to take their next step in their career. This position to join a local general contractor who has a focus on high-rise luxury condominiums, residential, commercial, and healthcare projects.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, performs administrative functions of the project; follows established policies, procedures, and specific instructions. The primary duty of the position directly relates to the management or general business operations of the company or its customers in areas such as accounting, quality control, marketing, budgeting, and purchasing. The candidate is expected to exercise discretion and use independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain effective communication and positive relationships with Owners, Architects, Consultants, and Subcontractors.

  • Generate construction details and manage contractual changes, documents, and payment estimates.

  • Ensure compliance with government agencies, utilities, unions, and project agreements.

  • Assist with construction schedules, material tracking, subcontracts, change orders, and payments.

  • Review shop drawings, submittals, and subcontractor performance; monitor material procurement.

  • Verify materials for specification conformance and quantity; process change proposals and collect change orders.

  • Document deviations, changes, and omissions in construction; update status reports and logs regularly.

  • Oversee job start-up, close-out procedures, and maintain project records.

  • Attend and assist in subcontractor, safety, and owner/architect meetings.

  • Ensure subcontractor compliance and assist in trade coordination, tool management, and field purchases.

  • Run project meetings and attend company-related events.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have construction experience and/or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management. (A degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management will subsidize as 2 years of experience.)

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.

  • Exceptional communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills for dealing with all levels of employees and outside parties.

  • Working knowledge of personal computer applications.

  • Proficiency following software’s:

  • MS Word, MS Project, Excel, Bluebeam

  • CAD Revit (preferred but not required).

  • Able to produce details for certain aspects of work being performed/installed.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

  • Basic knowledge of construction processes, procedures, and materials.

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.

  • 6-8 years of construction experience.
