Description

We are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our team in the real estate property and facilities management industry in Honolulu, Hawaii. This role is focused on preparing accurate financial statements, annual budgets, and common area maintenance (CAM) reconciliations. You will also be expected to maintain an understanding of accounting principles and company accounting procedures. If interested in this role, please call us at 808-531-8056. Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statement packages for assigned properties in a timely and accurate manner

• Make entries as needed in YARDI for tenant changes such as new tenants, vacating tenants, rent step-ups, and security deposit changes

• Generate monthly billing statements and verify accuracy of charges and balance

• Communicate inquiries and needs to the Accounting Manager or Controller-Property Management

• Review cash receipts register, check registers, aged delinquencies, accounts payable open status, rent roll reports, and supporting schedules for accuracy

• Prepare annual budget worksheets for property manager to update

• Prepare annual common area maintenance (CAM) reconciliation worksheet for Property Manager to update

• Update files based on Property Manager’s data and notes, and update checklist for status

• Calculate and prepare owner distributions or contribution from owner, to be provided with financial statements, percentage management fee, and general excise tax returns

• Verify supporting schedules to balance sheet and/or income statement

• Scan and password-protect financial statement package, including property manager’s cover letter, and email to the property manager by the financial statement due date.

Requirements • Proficient in Yardi Property Management, Yardi Software, and Yardi

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and Microsoft Excel including Excel Formulas

• Experience in preparing annual budgets and financial statement preparation

• Ability to perform CAM reconciliation and understand tenant leases

• Familiarity with monthly variance, general ledger, and journal entries

• Experience in handling excise tax and other tax-related tasks

• Excellent communication and organizational skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role in the Real Estate Property/Facilities Management industry

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Detail-oriented with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
