Job Summary and Qualifications

1.

Reviews multi-disciplinary assessments and thoroughly completes Activity Therapy assessment within 72 hours.

2.

Facilitates recreational therapy groups and individual sessions as indicated focused on helping the patient improve self-awareness, explore/rekindle leisure interests, provide and educate regarding healthy leisure choices which support recovery, life balance and wellness.

3.

Collaborates with behavioral health treatment team, patient, significant other as appropriate, and community partners in the development and revision of the recovery plan and coordination of services.

4.

Provides individual, family and group education/therapy commensurate with credentials and identified patient needs.

5.

Has working knowledge of utilization management functions and performs these functions as assigned.

6.

Manages safety and orderliness of activity therapy work/group areas and other patient and visitor areas and maintains appropriate quantity and variety of activity therapy supplies.

7.

Thorough documentation of recreation therapy intervention(s) in patient electronic medical record.

8.

Active partnership with Nursing teams in the development of therapeutic programming that is population specific and compliant with frequency expectations.

9.

Provides for the safety of patients, visitors and staff and actively participates in quality management/process improvement activities.

10.

Maintains current knowledge of community resources.

11.

Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, town hall meetings, and other informational sessions. Read Outlook e-mail with regularity.

12.

Attend and participate in clinical supervision as scheduled, minimum of quarterly and more frequently as indicated.

13.

Assumes responsibility for completing all mandatory educational, health screening, CPR, and CPI requirements within designated timeframe.

14.

Demonstrates excellent time management and customer service skills as guided by the TCH Vision and Mission Statement.

What qualifications you will need:

•

Previous successful activity therapy related internship or employment experience.

Required

•

BA or BS in Activity Therapy related field of study: Therapeutic Recreation, Art Therapy, Music Therapy.

Required

•

Previous successful activity therapy work experience in behavioral healthcare setting.

Preferred

•

MS in therapeutic recreation, art therapy, music therapy or related field with eligibility for licensure as LPC/LCSW and ATR.

Preferred

Licenses, Certifications, & Training:

•

Certified, credentialed or licensed by professional organization and/or state in therapeutic recreation (CTRS), art therapy, music therapy or related field or license eligible.
