The City of Houghton is hiring part-time bus drivers.  Must have a CDL with passenger endorsement and a good driving record.  This person will be responsible for the safe care of our passengers and equipment.  The position has the possibility of variable hours based on the needs of the passengers.  Transit operates Monday -- Friday, 7am to 6pm.

Responsibilities:

1. Maintain a good driving record
2. Maintain a Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsement.
3. Must undergo random drug and alcohol tests.
4. Must pass a DOT physical and renew as needed.
5. Ensure commitment to safety through consistent and professional behaviors in performance of job requirements that demonstrate safety is a fundamental value that guides all aspects of our work.
6. Collects fares and answers questions about the bus route.
7. Communicate with dispatch and other drivers as needed to coordinate routes and schedules.
8. Report any accidents, incidents, or mechanical problems to the appropriate authorities.
9. Attend training sessions and meetings as required.

Essential Duties:

• Drives a city vehicle to transport passengers.
• Ensure that monies received for fare are submitted as instructed.
• Ensures that all safety and emergency equipment and supplies are maintained.
• Responsible for pre-trip safety inspections daily, report any damage or problems to the mechanic.
• Clean interior and exterior of the vehicle.
• Record daily ridership as needed
• Exemplify professionalism and project a positive attitude when communicating with staff and the general public.
