DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversees the daily operations and personnel over a customer service section

  • Provides technical and supervisory training and development programs

  • Manages the design, development, and implementation of technical training and supervisory and management development programs.

  • Responds to written and telephone inquiries from customers.

  • Establishes goals and evaluates section performance

  • Trains, develops, counsels, monitors attendance, productivity and evaluates staff performance.

  • May act as a liaison to other departments, government agencies and the private sector

  • Makes recommendations regarding terminations and disciplinary actions.

  • Researches, reviews and evaluates new data, reports, products and other information

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management

  • Subject to being on call during emergency situations

  • May be required to drive on city business

  • Handles difficult calls from the public to ensure the most effective procedures are implemented

The position is physically comfortable, the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires a bachelor's degree in business administration, Accounting, Political Science, Psychology or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Three years of experience in personnel, administration, accounting or a closely related field are required.

Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERENCES

Preference will be given to applicants who can work independently with little supervision. Must possess superior oral and written communication skills and strong organization and time management abilities. Applicant must be proficient in Microsoft Excel. Candidate must be capable of grasping and implementing concepts via virtual training as well as hands-on face-to-face instructions.

Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
