McDermott Associate Mechanical Engineer- Contract in Houston, Texas
Job Overview:
The Associate Mechanical Engineer is responsible for utilizing existing Mechanical procedures to solve routine or standard problems. They receive instruction, guidance, and direction from others within the team, and they will leverage their conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures related to Mechanical and Engineering.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Gain an understanding of the Mechanical engineering main duties in the different stages of the projects
Perform detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on basic engineering tasks
Apply knowledge and skills to complete routine assignments under close supervision and mentoring
Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures
Organize own work to meet deadlines set by others
Clearly communicate information, asking questions and checking for understanding
Become familiar with all the quality and documentation systems
Specify simple types of equipment by process and project requirements under lead engineer guidance
Apply all relevant procedures, practices, and international standards according to their discipline (Static, Rotating, Package, special equipment), and applicable as per Project requirements
Assist in supplying another discipline with relevant information, as per their requirement
Carry out all relevant drafting activities (e.g., Datasheet sketches, modifications drawings, etc.)
Support the drawings, documents, and inspection & test procedures review from the sellers and manufacturers
Assist the Mechanical Engineers and Buyers with the evaluation of the Technical and Commercial bids
Apply all the relevant HSE requirements and criteria in the engineering work and decisions
Reports to:
Project: Lead Engineer
Functional: Supervisor/Lead Engineer or Engineering Manager
Liaise with: Engineers, Design Supervisors, and Designers of their own discipline
Supervises: None
Essential Qualifications and Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
0-3 years of experience in Oil and Gas
Quality-oriented and schedule conscious
Good communication skills and team player behavior
Show flexibility to assist colleagues and supervisors with increased workload
Learning the content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines as applicable
Learning design techniques and analysis methods
Preferred Qualifications and Education:
Master’s Degree is preferred
Preferably Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or member of a professional engineering society
Good English in writing and speaking (B2 Level)
