Honeywell BTI Leader, Smart Gas in Houston, Texas

As part of Honeywell Industrial Automation (IA), Smart Energy and Thermal Solutions (SETS) has an exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurial General Manager to drive global Breakthrough Technology Initiatives. The GM will lead a cross-functional technical and commercial team to develop and implement initiatives to drive significant revenue in the high growth Smart Gas Meters vertical within the utilities business.

The GM will be responsible for developing and delivering a roadmap of new Smart Gas Meters products and solutions to enable the business to move to the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) which includes innovations on end-to-end solutions including key partnerships from a telecommunications, software application and complementary technology perspective. They are fully responsible for the end-to-end process, from ideation to financial results and will manage a cross-functional team including engineering, program management, sales, and marketing. They will be accountable to both SETS leadership as well as the IA Leadership Team.

They will be required to navigate the broader organization including Engineering, Advanced Technology, Integrated Supply Chain, Finance, Strategy, Marketing, and Sales to develop and maximize return on a pipeline of new sensing solutions ideas that will deliver value to customers and high growth over the next 3 years. Hence, ability to demonstrate strong entrepreneurial mentality and experience in establishing start-up or new business ventures in white spaces is essential to enable profitable growth to achieve aggressive financial growth metrics.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Main responsibilities will include ideation and commercialization of new technologies, talent management, product roadmaps, driving organizational efficiency, attainment of key financial metrics, customer engagements and understanding market trends & competitors.

  • Drive ideation and development of a strong BTI pipeline to deliver needle moving growth for Smart Gas meters using customer and market backed research.

  • Own end to end activities to deliver revenue and P&L targets while monitoring and optimizing pricing policies for new technology spaces

  • Responsible for strategy development and deployment including close collaboration with high-growth regions

  • Work closely with Hon Gov Relations to address the demand for energy efficiency programs, by emerging the partnership eco-system

  • Lead and develop a team of highly motivated technology and commercial people focused solely on BTI. Build thought leadership in the industry for Honeywell Smart Gas Meters in the utility business

  • Close alignment with SETS and IA Marketing, Technology and Commercial teams to achieve desired results. Ensure technology developments are integrated into Transportation spaces

  • Drive a One Honeywell collaboration to maximize growth, primarily with Honeywell Forge organization

  • Will be involved with mergers and acquisitions and venture partnerships

YOU MUST HAVE

  • 10 plus years’ experience in commercial or technology functions and business leadership within the utility industry, and experience in Advanced Metering Infrastructures, hardware-enabled SaaS systems and software solutions

  • Demonstrated start up or new business venture experience where he/she has built or scaled a business to deliver solid financial results

  • Strong customer sales experience and product marketing acumen particularly in new market spaces with a track record of growing businesses within the electrification industry

  • Business acumen and knowledge of financial metrics.

  • Quickly identifies patterns among problems & issues

  • Makes timely decisions balancing systematic analysis, Decisive and logical while thoroughly evaluating issues

  • Strong portfolio management skills specifically in ideation and delivery of new solutions.

  • Excellent planning, execution, and project management skills

  • Strong leadership skills - Ability to lead and develop a high performing team

  • Executive level written/verbal communication skills

  • Combination of hardware and software background would be ideal
