MD Anderson Cancer Center Clinical Program Manager - Patient Safety in Houston, Texas

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors degree in Nursing, Pharmacy or Physician Assistant, and five years of healthcare experience to include two years of experience in patient safety or business management.

This is a hybrid position with onsite and remote requirements.

Patient Safety and System/Database Support

  • Provides direction and review of patient safety workflows and support systems/databases.

  • Coordinates and facilitates the investigation, review, and disposition of Patient Safety Event Reports as necessary.

  • Works as a subject matter expert for the patient safety event reporting tool.

  • Coordinates, leads, and tracks Root Cause Analyses as indicated. Provides reporting of RCA

  • Provides support of patient safety processes to assist leadership and organizational committees with information to improve patient safety and quality patient care.

Education and Collaboration

  • Designs and presents effective patient safety education programs and presentations to include but not limited to: Event reporting system, Cause Analysis, and Suicide Prevention.

  • Works closely and effectively with stakeholders from all disciplines, such as nursing, pharmacy, and medical staff.

Patient Safety Projects and Activities

  • Manage and coordinate patient safety activities and special projects 9. Conducts other duties, reports, dashboards, and audits as assigned related to patient safety efforts.

Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Required Education : Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Pharmacy, Physician Assistant or related healthcare field.

Preferred Education : Master's degree in a healthcare related field or Business Administration.

Required Experience : Five years of healthcare experience to include two years of patient safety or business management experience. With preferred degree, three years of healthcare experience to include two years of patient safety or business management experience.

Licensure/Certifications

Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN) and one of the following: Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Certified Professional in Patient Safety -(CPPS) or Certified Joint Commission Professional (CJCP).
