Superior is currently seeking a Contracts & Compliance Manager to join our team in Houston, TX (On-Site).

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Deputy General Counsel, Superior Energy Services, Inc. (“Superior”) is seeking a talented commercial advisor / attorney to serve as a Contracts and Compliance Manager for the company. Superior is a global oilfield products and services company with a portfolio of premier rental and well servicing brands.

The Contracts and Compliance Manager will serve as the primary attorney in support of Superior’s portfolio brands operating globally, aligning product service line risk appetite with overall company strategy and risk tolerance, and ensuring compliance with all applicable legal regulations and ethical standards.

The selected candidate will:

  • Be skilled in drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts in support of global operations, including master service agreements, work/purchase orders, vendor agreements, sale agreements, supporting documents in respect of bids and tenders, agency agreements, notices and NDAs with little or no supervision.

  • Ensure all contracts adhere to applicable standards and corporate legal policies, principles and guidelines, are internally consistent and appropriately address legal and risk considerations, including use of appropriate contract templates, use of appropriate contracting entity with basic understanding of applicable tax considerations and other drivers, and appropriate minimization and ringfencing of liabilities.

  • Have a good understanding of property/casualty/professional liability insurance and risk management principles.

  • Provide advice and guidance to internal business units related to legal and commercial terms and work with the business units to address compliance matters.

  • Identify, communicate, and escalate to the Deputy General Counsel, any compliance and/or contract issues and/or material deviations from established internal or external guidelines.

  • Follow best practices for contract review processes, controls and contract management system.

  • Support compliance processes and provide guidance to the business in specific regulatory risk areas, such as gift requests, engaging agents, sanctions, third party control processes, obtaining licenses and permits and import/export regulations.

  • Conduct investigations for all local complaints received through the Legal department.

  • Create and maintain detailed investigation records and documentation supporting HR, internal audit and the Deputy General Counsel.

  • Participate in the provision of training and other communication tools to promote an understanding of the ethics and compliance program and the anti-corruption program.

This is a full-time office position that is based at our Downtown offices in Houston, Texas.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in corporate contracting and compliance matters with Oilfield Services experience strongly preferred.

  • Juris Doctor in Law from an accredited U.S. law school, and admission to practice law in good standing in the State of Texas.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with careful attention to detail, comfortable and confident in dealing directly with customers and business units and able to identify, communicate and mitigate issues.

  • A positive attitude, high energy, desire to grow with the business and help maximize opportunities.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage several simultaneous projects under deadline pressure.

  • A strong sense of ownership and dedication to personal excellence and improvement.
