Coordinator, Clinical Studies (Tissue Bank)

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Protocol Coordination
Assist in the overall conduct of clinical trials as assigned to the Tissue Bank Team. Provides all study-related coordination, including writing, submission, and maintenance of protocols. Develops and maintains a processing and tracking system for all protocol-related paperwork. Develops patient care methodology for protocols, including criteria for patient participation. Collects and sets criteria information for protocol submission.
Patient Participation Management
Coordinates, evaluates, and follows patient participation in Clinical Trials. Reviews patient eligibility of potential study cases and assists in obtaining consent. Follows patients on studies and maintains knowledge of adverse events. Schedule and conduct interviews with study participants and administers assessments and questionnaires. Monitor and schedule appointments for study participation and compliance.
Specimen Collection and Handling
Assist in the management of research samples or data as needed. This includes working with many different departments-effectively communicating with these departments to collect data and prevent protocol deviations or violations. Assist in departmental duties and Quality Assurance Rotation. Coordinates all activities relating to collecting the research specimen, which can be obtained from various sources, such as the bone marrow aspirate or biopsy, tumor biopsy, serum collection, and others.
Tissue Bank Administrative Operations
Participates in the Myeloma Tissue & Data Use Committee meetings to assist in reviewing new proposals for using either MTB tissue, MTB data, or both. This committee works collaboratively to guide investigators in preparing proposals, optimizing their ability to reach the stated goals and prioritizing proposals for support.
Helps to review new protocols and projects assigned to the MTB and creates correct budgets to promote MTB sustainability and laboratory SOPs. Assists with the preparation of manuscripts and grant applications leveraging data obtained from the MTB studies.
Inventory Control & Data Management
Assists in the collection and evaluation of data. Under the supervision of the medical and research nurse staff, performs protocol-specific tasks, including screening, ordering tests, collecting specimens, and studying documentation of patient-reported responses.
Manages and updates the Myeloma Tissue Bank samples holding and conducts the weekly MTB meeting. Assists with sample and data requests and prepares Transfer Sheets and Disposition forms.
Other duties as assigned
Education Required - Bachelor's degree.
Experience Required - Three years experience in area of research study or direct patient care obtained from nursing, data gathering or other related experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis. With preferred degree, one year of required experience.
