Position Description Summary
The Director of Accounting Policy and Special Projects will provide leadership and support in accounting policy, Lease accounting and reporting, Revenue, financial review and special projects to enhance internal controls, efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Lead and participate in special projects and initiatives to enhance internal controls, efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function.
Provide corporate oversight and management of company-wide lease accounting under ASC 842 Leases, including maintenance and enforcement of accounting policies and procedures specific to lease accounting.
Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial reporting requirements for Leases.
Provide accounting support for monthly close and FP&A reporting related to lease accounting.
Partner in Development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
Conduct training sessions for accounting staff on new policies and procedures.
Collaborate effectively with business units and cross-functional teams to ensure consistent application of accounting policies across the organization.
Assist with corporate oversight of company-wide revenue recognition, including reviews of customer contracts in accordance with ASC 606, Revenue from Contracts with Customers.
Monitor major corporate events, including significant contracts, mergers and acquisitions and other transactions and events. Research, analyze, and document accounting and reporting implications and assist with related complex accounting journal entries, reconciliations, and disclosures.
Serve as US GAAP resource, including preparation/review of technical accounting memos and analysis.
Assist with the preparation and review of financial statements and disclosures, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Coordinate with external auditors and manage portions of the annual audit process.
Support management in the fulfilment of ad hoc requests, projects and analysis.
Effectively lead and mentor others supporting this position’s responsibilities.
Foster a culture of continuous learning and development.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.

Strong computer skills including knowledge of financial and ERP packages.
Knowledge of OneStream, LeaseCalcs and Workiva.
Required Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Big 4 experience required.
12+ years of progressive experience in accounting with demonstrated technical skills.
Experience in external financial reporting, including extensive knowledge of GAAP and SEC rules and regulations.
Experience in technical accounting research and documentation for complex transactions.
