Matrix Service Discipline Workface Planner in Houston, Texas

Job Summary

The Discipline Workface Planner is responsible for developing discipline specific Construction Work Packages (CWPs), Installation Work Packages (IWPs), Material Take-offs (MTOs), and Quantity Surveying functions as part of the Work Package execution. The Discipline Workface Planner may also perform activities such as supporting the implementation of the Advance Work Package (AWP) program, technology integration and user implementation, leading or supporting constructability reviews and lesson learn reviews, providing construction input to engineering and supply chain teams, and providing site Field Engineering support as necessary in accordance with the project’s and Company’s overall policies and objectives.

Essential Functions

  • Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values”.

  • Supports the development of Construction Work Packages (CWPs).

  • Responsible for dissecting or breaking down Construction Work Packages (CWPs) into smaller Installation Work Packages (IWPs).

  • Develops and implements comprehensive work packages for construction projects, detailing the sequence of activities, resource requirements, and timelines.

  • Responsible for generating a list of constraints for each Work Package based upon known obstacles that prevent the works from being executed.

  • Monitors all the Workface Planning sessions and works with the construction teams, contractors, and Client on constraint clearance.

  • Monitors Work Package progress on-site, including quantity surveying.

  • Conducts regular site inspections/audits to assess existing conditions, identify potential challenges, and ensure alignment with project goals and schedule.

  • Assists with creation of reporting that may include dashboard reporting.

  • Supports the resolution of technical field issues and the subsequent documentation of the final installations as necessary.

  • Supports the integration of software required for AWP management, including functioning properly.

  • Contributes to the constructability process for all projects.

  • Seeks to improve methods and work practices in accordance with project plan.

  • Reviews and advises on Project Change Notices that may impact established AWP construction plans.

  • Provides/Ensures training regarding the proper use of applicable software as necessary.

  • Fosters strong relationships with Construction management team, Project management team, and home office Engineering as well as subcontractors with whom Company does business for a given project.

  • Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.

  • 4+ years’ related experience in the heavy construction/ industrial EPC / EPCM industry, or equivalent field experience.

  • Working knowledge to advanced competency in AWP/CWP Concepts.

  • Demonstrates good analytical skills.

  • Knowledge of the engineering, supply chain, and construction process and deliverables.

  • Fundamental knowledge of engineering, procurement, construction & home-office and site planning requirements.

  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously under time sensitive deadlines.

  • Understanding of Document Management & Control software systems; knowledge of Hexagon SDx, SmartCompletions, and iConstruct capabilities is a plus.

  • Understanding of how scheduling software and 3D design technologies are used on projects.

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office suite of products.

  • Work includes field inspections and audits and the physical ability to conduct these field duties which require the following activities:

  • Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project via turnstile access.

  • Extensive walking in and around a construction site.

  • Tasks at heights including climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, and working on uneven surfaces.

  • Working in small or confined spaces.

  • Ability to push, pull, lift, or carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

  • Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. fall protection harness, hard hat, etc.).

  • Ability to be fit tested for and use a respirator.

  • Must be able to perform work tasks in hot and cold temperatures.
