Description:
Manages the day-to-day operations of a large university program or department, including the supervision of staff employees, student workers, programs or processes.
- Plans and develops procedures for administering a large or complex department or program.
- Manages fiscal activities, including procurement and budget analysis.
- Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.
- Prepares abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation.
- Creates and reviews reports of expenditures and activities.
- May administer grants and grant-related related communications, scholarships and other operations.
- Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.
- May serve as property custodian for the department.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None.
Oversee all aspects of the graduate externship program including ensure students have appropriate experiences to meet educational requirements and needs meet with faculty regarding student skill set/acquisition as needed oversee student progress in accruing required competencies, hours and grades Monitor student progress and problem-solve with students and extern clinical educators as needed when challenges arise coordinate following aspects as related to externship placement: orientation meetings, site visits, check out procedures, updating competencies and skills (CALIPSO), enter grades as needed Contracts, Verification, and Education: establish and maintain affiliation agreements verification and maintenance of site clinical educator certification/licensure and training requirements provide current handbook and counseling/direction as needed regarding supervisory process maintain current list of certifications, vaccinations for students per site requirements, collect documentation to submit to sites per timeline requirement prior to the start of rotation. Become proficient in the use of My Clinical Exchange as required for, at least, the following site systems (HCA, Encompass Health, Memorial Hermann Hospital System) Establish and maintain contacts at externship placement sites within the greater Houston area Explore new sites including the adequacy of the site to supervise students and provide relevant and appropriate experiences
