Weatherford Flow Project Engineer in Houston, Texas

The RDE | Flow Project Engineer for Water Cut Meter performs the development, design, testing, sustaining work and project management related to Red Eye (RE) and Red Eye Subsea (RESS) water cut meter technology.

The project engineer ensures that products and services related to the water cut meter meet the required quality standards by designing and developing new or modifying existing products to meet actual or anticipated future customer needs.

  • SME on Weatherford water cut meter (Red Eye and Red Eye Subsea)

  • Provide red eye related technical support

  • Effectively communicate the technology to technical as well as business development audiences

  • Contribute ideas, create IP, and take lead on improvements in the product based on the Global Product Line business requirements

  • Project manager role on Red Eye Subsea, act as a liaison between RESS customers, engineering and manufacturing

  • Sustaining and improving existing water cut meter technology under the supervision of the Engineering manager with technical guidance from Senior Product Line and Principal Engineers.

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing for modification of existing products, component selection, and component integration to support market-driven requirements.

  • Algorithm and software development following product line guidelines. Collaborate with production software and firmware developers

  • Support global operations in troubleshooting of existing field installations.

  • Development of troubleshooting procedures, operating procedures, updates of technical manual

  • Manage and update product line knowledge base

  • Play key role in training and development related to the product line

  • Manufacturing Engineering support on the water cut meter.

  • Perform advanced engineering tasks related to the water cut meter. These include, but are not limited to, meter sizing analysis, wetted materials selection, cost estimation, data analytics, hardware design, and firmware/software upgrades.

  • Coordinate with drafting for the creation of drawings and documentation for engineering design files.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum, Mechanical Engineering, EE, or related discipline

  • 4-5 years related work experience in Flow Measurement

  • Working knowledge of software in at least one of the following coding languages Python, MATLAB, Octave, C, or C++ .

PREFERRED

  • Experience in Flow Measurement in Upstream Oil and Gas production process

  • Masters of Science degree

  • Understanding of Optical absorption spectroscopy

  • Basic familiarity with version control systems (e.g., GitHub, Perforce)

  • Self-starter. Curious. Ability to research independently and integrate knowledge from various sources into working solutions. Active participation in technical societies, forums and open-source communities is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

REQUIRED

  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills in English.

  • Ability to work well with all levels of personnel.

  • Experience working in a team environment in industry projects.

  • Strong resource and time management skills with the ability to contribute and prioritize across multiple projects.

  • Willingness to travel to client site and work in laboratory.

  • Knowledge of engineering, in particular fluid mechanics and flow measurement.

PREFERRED

  • Knowledge of the multiphase flow, and measurement technology in upstream oil and gas.

  • Basic understanding of industry Codes and Standards like ASME B16.5, ASME BPVC, ASME B31.3.

  • Published technical papers, presented in industry conferences.
