MD Anderson Cancer Center Grant Program Manager - Pathology in Houston, Texas

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Pre-Award Administration

• Manages grant administration for the research faculty of the Division of pathology Lab Medicine

• Submits proposals of high volume for the research Division to include, collection of required documents, budget development and justification, COIs, PI guidance from start to finish of application and adherence to all sponsor and institutional guidelines.

• Develops and reviews all grants for accuracy and compliance in Division before submission to OSP

• Uploads appropriate grant-related documentation to institutional systems for internal review (Click Grants)

• Communicates with the Office of Grants and Contacts, Office of Research Administration and NIH regarding grant preparations/submission, including sub-contacts, core grants, etc.

• Completes JIT other ad hoc sponsor requests

• Communicates with personnel at other institutions (sub-contracts) regarding deadlines, budgets and other requirements for division collaborative grants

• Develops and reviews research/grant budgets for accuracy and compliance with institutional and sponsoring agency requirements

• Negotiates payment terms with private foundations

• Works with legal service to ensure accuracy and compliance of contractual agreements (RCTS)

Post-Award Administration

• Reviews grant and contract awards for restrictions and special conditions and relays this to PI and/or laboratory management

• Evaluates the Principal Investigator's research plan, purchases and personnel to determine if compliance has been met, budget is spent according to proposed budget and milestones are submitted and/or met.

• Acts as liaison for Principal Investigator with funding agency, communicating relevant information regarding requests, requirements and reporting

• Meets with new faculty to determine their research needs for both grant support and general funding.

• Works with Grants and Contacts Accounting and NIH in assisting in the transfer of existing grants from the former institution.

• Works closely with divisional senior management analysts regarding research fiscal matters.

• Monitors, audits, and advises on the reallocation of funds and transfer of expenses as deemed appropriate according to sponsoring agency deadlines.

• Provide excel spreadsheets with updated information on periodic reports.

• Completes progress reports and other requests such as NCEs, waivers, contract modifications, etc.

• Submit Non-Salary Cost Transfers to clear deficits.

• Submit ePAFs.

• Management financials using various queries.

• Project expense (adhoc/PS)

• Grant Payment Report (PS)

• Invoice and payment detail inquiry (PS)

• General Ledger (PS)

Research Administration

• Manages effort reporting for the Division

• Meets quarterly with Principal Investigators to proactively review grant funding status, research personnel support and deadlines to ensure compliance with prior approval requirements of each funding agency.

• Monitors, audits and advises on the reallocation of funds and transfer of expenses as deemed appropriate according to sponsoring agency deadlines. This includes research accounts for the Division Head.

• Performs personnel and non-personnel reconciliation

• Monitors these monthly reports

• Employees on expired grants and/or grants expiring in 60 days

• Expired or Expiring grants in 60 days

• Non-PLM employees on PLM funding sources

• PLM employee on other division funding sources

• Possible erroneous journal entries

• Reconcile personnel expenses on grants monthly

• Inactivate chartfield strings

• Reconcile personnel expenses monthly

Other Duties

• Organize the recruitment, appointment, promotion actions.

• Assists with tracking expenses and payments, quarterly reports

• Organize meetings with sponsors, institutional management and faculty (PIs)

• Other duties as assigned

Bachelor's degree. Two years of grant management experience such as grant writing, grant submission and financial administration and one year of lead or supervisory experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one year basis. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
