Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)

This supervised position will allow for a college student who is seeking a career in Information Technology as well as enhance their knowledge with regard to all aspects of Calpine functions both operationally and financially. This position will require the individual to work a normal day shift. This job will be based out of the Houston, Texas.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides analysis and technical solutions in support of Calpine’s Security systems.

  • Assist with IT security functions – identity access management, security operations, etc.

  • Interact with business and technical users to assess needs, validate solutions, and provide light guidance on the use of some of application data and system configurations.

  • IT Security related development work.

  • May provide development support activities, including design, development, and testing activities.

  • Develop business process flow diagrams related to IT Security workflows

Job Requirements

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university, working towards Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, preferred.

  • Rising Junior or Senior, completion of at least 30 hours.

  • Minimum GPA 3.0

  • Legally eligible to work in the United States now and in the future for any company.

  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and analytical skills

  • Must be flexible and able to work harmoniously with others

  • Good organization skills and attention to details are essential

  • Strong foundational knowledge in object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms

  • Experience with SQL

  • Experience with Visual Studio or Visual Studio Code

  • Familiarity with C#, HTML, JS, and CSS

  • Experience with a component-based UI library like React, Angular, or Vue is a plus
