SLB-Capturi is a joint venture between SLB New energy and Aker Carbon Capture. We are a leading carbon capture technology company. We serve a range of carbon-emitting industries including cement, blue hydrogen, bio/waste-to-energy, and gas-to-power among others. Through our portfolio of projects, we are mitigating the environmental cost of industrial activity for a cleaner, more sustainable future. We see a daily growth in our market potential as a rising number of customers look to carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS) and our company to solve their emissions challenges. SLB Capturi is one of the leading companies globally that has extensive knowledge of the entire CCUS value chain. We have many ongoing projects, from research and innovation, including pilot plant testing, to concept studies and to large EPC projects, both in Europe and in the United States. Today, we are delivering seven carbon capture units in Europe, with an accumulated capture capacity of 1 million tonnes of CO2.

The SLB-Capturi US team is seeking a highly qualified Lead Instrumentation & Control Engineer. Reporting to SLB-Capturi Engineering Manager US, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of advanced control systems; this involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration and optimization of control systems.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of instrumentation & control systems, including hardware and software components.

  • Lead instrumentation selection and sizing in coordination with the cross-discipline team ( Process, mechanical, electrical etc.)

  • Ensure instrumentation & control systems projects meet quality, safety, and performance standards from concept to operation.

  • Implement testing protocols to validate the performance and reliability of various control systems.

  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.

  • Ensure Control Systems deliverables and design adhere to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.

  • Evaluate customer inquiries and specifications to determine the appropriate control systems equipment and design for the application.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams during project development, design, and installation.

  • Lead a multi-location team of Control Systems Engineers in Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) projects, studies or product development.

  • Develop, review, and ensure proposals contain clearly defined material, equipment, and delivery information.

  • Manage and develop a team of Control Systems Engineers through sharing your technical experience, providing company and individual training opportunities, and fostering a collaborative work environment.

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement by implementing best practices and lessons learned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Instrumentation and Control Engineering with a proven track record of delivering on commitments and managing engineering teams.

  • Experience with ANSI, IEEE, ISO, EN, ATEX, IEC, and other international codes and standards in instrumentation, control, and automation systems.

  • Experienced in instrumentation cabling, cable tray layouts, and other related activities.

  • Experience safety systems, SIL loops, Fire detection, Gas detection, and alarming systems is an advantage.

  • Experience working with FTIR, Gas Chromatograph, mass and ultrasonic flowmeters, and gas and smoke detectors is a plus.

  • Works independently applying advance engineering techniques and analysis.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.

  • Meticulous attention to detail in design, testing, and documentation processes

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

  • A self-starter that demonstrates a positive outlook and contributes to working in multicultural and multidisciplinary and collaborative environment.
