This position is part of the Central Engineering Department in ORCM Facilities and Construction, and will be based in Houston, TX.  This position is responsible for leading and coordinating the process engineering resources within ORCM.  This leader will manage the priority and scheduling for all assigned projects and manage all personnel as well as contractors to ensure that all facilities are adequately designed to be operated in a safe, environmentally acceptable, efficient manner, and in compliance with Company policies and government regulations.  The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following job duties.   

 

Responsibilities

  • Supervises team members and manages programs such as performance management, compensation planning and development/training. 
  • Utilize key performance indexes to assess group performance and establish team goals.
  • Collaborates with various leads, managers, and other stakeholders to drive process design optimization and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of engineering projects, ensuring they are on schedule and within budget while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive project success.
  • Participates in project technical reviews and risk analysis to ensure safe, efficient, and economic facility operation that employ best practices.
  • Ensures standard designs are utilized to improve capital efficiency and reduce execution duration.
  • Provide process technical support, guidance, and mentorship across ORCM.
  • Provide critical assessments to challenge project assumptions to maximize value.
  • Establishes industry best practices and SOP’s for engineering team use.
  • Serves as the single point of contact for all process engineering requests that support the various ORCM groups.
  • Encourages and rewards continuous process improvement and new technology implementation.
  • Accountable for knowing and complying with all applicable regulations and company HES training requirement and policies.
  • Provides relief for the central engineering manager during his absence. 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 15 years of working experience in Oil and Gas industry with minimum 10 years of process engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • A strong track record of innovation, low-cost safe engineering with good technical understanding of Engineering related disciplines and a strong knowledge of oil and gas production processes
  • Strong leadership, communication (written and verbal), consensus building, and mentoring skills
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure utilizing strong process engineering skills and an ability to work multiple projects or items concurrently
  • Ability to develop technical and economic recommendations with incomplete information
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong influencing skills and a demonstrated ability to interact with customers and clients in a positive and professional manner
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with all levels in the organization
  • Knowledge of relevant industry regulations (ASME codes) and safety standards (API 520 / 521 / 14C)
  • Proficiency in process simulation software: (Aspen HYSYS and Promax, PipeSim, etc)
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office software including MS Powerpoint, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Project.
  • Basic understanding of automation and electrical design principles
  • Fundamental understanding of MOCs, HAZOPs and PSSRs
  • Ability to travel to west TX or Carlsbad, NM 15% (on average) of work time as needed

 

 

This position may be eligible for relocation.
