Howmet Aerospace Maintenance Tech (Off Shift) in Houston, Texas

Essential Functions:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the production operations by inspecting, monitoring, repairing, and maintaining all production equipment and plant systems.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Performs inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of production equipment and plant systems.

  • Performs preventative maintenance in accordance with written instructions.

  • Communicates equipment concerns with operators, supervisors, and other maintenance personnel to diagnose and repair issues.

  • Document status and completion of work orders and projects via use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Documents spare parts condition, inventory levels, and usage via CMMS.

  • Maintains clean work area and organized toolbox.

  • Follow work schedules and standard work practices and procedures.

  • Follow all safety procedures LOTO / PPE / Confined Space / Hot Work Permits / Fall Protection

  • Support the Maintenance Manager in meeting department goals and objectives.

  • Support the Quality Management System.

  • Complies with all EHS rules required for the work environment and ensures all environmental & safety policies are followed.

  • Effectively communicating with others within and outside the workgroup.

  • Own cost savings initiatives (degrees of implementation).

  • Ability to read and react to verbal and non-verbal communication while maintaining a high level of professionalism.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with hands-on maintenance activities.

  • Must be available to work all shifts and weekends / holidays as required

  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Formal Technical / Vocational degree preferred.

  • Experience with manufacturing and/or plant environment.

  • Experience with heavy equipment repair and complex hydraulic systems.

  • Must have the aptitude to troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.

  • Able to identify and isolate PLC, HMI, and controls issues for escalation by controls engineer.

  • Able to problem solve rationally and to identify root cause of equipment failure.

  • Able to interpret equipment schematics, hydraulic circuits, control circuits, single-line electrical drawings, and piping and instrumentation diagrams.

  • Able to research and identify parts via parts-fiche and assembly drawings.

  • Able to obtain an in-house mobile equipment certification, including use of forklift and boom lift

  • Has Basic metal fabrication-environment skills: use of power tools, cutting torch, stick welder, saws, and knee mill.

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Working knowledge of electrical schematics. Must be able to troubleshoot, diagnose, and isolate electrical and electronics issues in a timely manner.

  • Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude.

  • Good PC skills (working knowledge of Microsoft Office).

  • Excellent Communication and Presentation skills (written, verbal and non- verbal), ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.

  • Must work well in a team environment and commit to continuous improvement.
