Position Description

Primary purpose:

  • Manage staff of Commercial Contract Administrators in Kinder Morgan Products Pipelines business unit to ensure that commercial contracts are drafted and executed timely and accurately.

Essential duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leadership

  • Manages personnel to ensure that all work is done correctly, efficiently, and on time. This is including but not limited to the following:

  • Work with internal stakeholders such as Business Development, Account Services, Business Processes, Accounting, Legal, IT, and Internal Audit.

  • Communicate with external customers, as needed.

  • Assist staff in obtaining all the information needed to complete tasks.

  • Ensure that staff meets the needs of internal stakeholders

  • Keep staff organized and on point to produce a good work product while ensuring that Kinder Morgan processes and controls are followed.

  • Must be able to proactively identify and consult with subject matter experts to obtain information necessary for the integrity of the contract.

  • Ensure that the financial escalation of commercial contracts is calculated correctly and timely.

  • Ensure that billable services in contracts are clearly written and clearly communicated to internal stakeholders.

  • Help to ensure contract completeness via effective communication to internal stakeholders

  • Facilitate excellent organizational skills and customer service skills while managing a high volume and variety of requests.

  • Candidate must have excellent attention to detail skills

  • Lead team in finding solutions to software challenges.

  • Lead team in the utilization of KM’s in-house computer application to create, process, and execute revenue-generating contracts and amendments (cradle to grave).

  • Oversite of customer/shipper/vendor onboarding.

  • Lead team to create/maintain/distribute contract summaries for internal stakeholders.

  • Assist in management of electronic document library for commercial contracts and related documents.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Coordination/Compliance/Safety

  • Ensures workgroup compliance with company, regulatory, and commercial requirements related but not limited to KM policies, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and business contracts.

  • Consistently maintain and demonstrate a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets, employees, and the general public.

    Position Requirements

    Minimum requirements: Education:

  • BS or BA degree in Accounting, Contract Management, Marketing, General Business, Law, or related fields.

  • 2-5 years of prior management experience

  • Excellent computer skills including advanced use of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Teams).

  • Must possess skills in grammar and techniques of business composition.

  • Good interpersonal communication skills for dealing with employees, co-workers, and customers.

Must be able to establish a course of action for self and others in the department to accomplish specific goals; must plan and prioritize proper assignment of personnel and/or appropriate allocation of resources. Must have ability to organize, establish, and maintain filing and record keeping systems. Must have the ability to prepare reports from electronic data and various sources.

  • As the manager, must consistently maintain a professional and respectful demeanor/attitude and set an example for the department; work effectively with team/work group, as well as with others to accomplish organizational goals; take action that respects the needs and contributions of others; take responsibility for actively participating and contributing to team efforts; support a team consensus or decision; act as team facilitator when appropriate.

  • Ability to supervise a diverse workforce.

  • Must be accountable and take direction from management; keep required work schedules, which include regular and predictable job attendance; focus attention on details; follow work rules.

  • Communicate clearly and understandably in English, both orally and in writing (includes telephone, grammar, and business composition skills).

Physical demands:

  • Ability to manipulate computer keyboard.

  • Ability to read various documents, electronic and paper.

  • Ability to work in an office environment at a workstation, usually sitting, for long periods of time.

  • Employee must be physically capable of completing and satisfying all training requirements as stipulated by local, state or federal agencies and/or Company Policy.

Working Conditions:

  • Extended work hours may be required from time to time to meet business needs

  • Travel may be required, including overnight stays for several days.

  • Majority of the work will be conducted from an office environment – controlled temperature.

Above the minimum requirement; not required but advantageous in this position:

  • Understanding of, or experience with, petroleum pipelines and terminals.

  • Excellent attention to detail skills

  • Ability to understand and analyze the flow of data as it relates to the work produc
