Position Description

Primary purpose: Manager of Commercial Scheduling in the KM Midstream Scheduling group, is responsible for the oversight and management of all aspects of the scheduling and allocation processes for Natural Gas (both lean and rich) and NGLs in a predominately non-FERC regulated environment. The environment is very dynamic, has a diverse group of assets and personnel, and a large reporting structure.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Mentor, as well as lead, a staff of multiple direct reports, serving as the subject matter expert for a group of assets.

  • Monitor the lean Natural Gas transportation, storage, hub, wheeling, and purchase/sale activities.

  • Monitor the rich Natural Gas gathering, processing and fractionation activities.

  • Monitor the NGL product movement via pipeline, trucking, rail, and barge to ensure no disruption of plant operations.

  • Imbalance management of all products on a daily and a monthly basis, with an emphasis on mitigation of price exposure, as well as, participate in the negotiation of Operator Balancing Agreements.

  • Working with customers and third party pipelines (intrastate and interstate) to manage daily and monthly nominations and gas flow.

  • Oversee and help maintain Proprietary Storage Reporting function.

  • Provide accurate and timely volume reporting to senior management.

  • Participate in Daily Operations meetings to stay abreast of any and all outages or disruptions to service and respond accordingly.

  • Oversee the coordination of pipeline, plant or any facility outages with gas control, field operations, customers and other facility operators as necessary.

  • Availability after normal business hours to respond to pipeline and other facility emergencies to minimize impact to customer service and Kinder Morgan’s ability to provide such services.

  • Maintain relationships with major shippers and customers on assigned assets.

  • Responsible for ensuring successful monthly close process for the allocation of all products, the accuracy of the accounting invoices, payment statements and imbalance statements for the department.

  • Maintains practices, processes and procedures which encourage teamwork and decision making while minimizing uncertainty.

  • Lead and participate in projects with the goal of increasing efficiencies through system integrity, automation, consolidation, data analytics and processes.

  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations (i.e. SOX, TX RRC, FERC and CRE).

  • Oversee all reporting aspects, including the L&U of the pipelines.

  • Prepare and participate in the Annual Performance Review Process.

    Position Requirements

    Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Direct related work experience may be considered as a substitute for a degree.

    Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years industry experience.

  • Previous Management experience preferred.

  • Possesses the aptitude and skills to be considered for future advancement into a more senior position.

  • Proven ability to mentor and train junior team members.

  • Proven ability to be an integral member of a team.

  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills.

  • Ability to multi-task, quickly adapt and tackle new problems, re-prioritizing as needed.

  • Ability to create and maintain an effective and cohesive team.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Must be able to analyze data and make recommendations.

  • Knowledge of intrastate and interstate nomination procedures.

  • General knowledge of natural gas and NGL storage physical and commercial activity.

  • Experience transporting on FERC regulated pipelines (firm and interruptible) and capable of navigating FERC tariffs.

  • Understanding of emergency pipeline procedures and capability to implement such procedures.

    Above the minimum requirements, not required but advantageous in this position:

  • Gas and/or NGL scheduling experience.

  • Prior exposure with the current systems applications (DART, TIPS, QLM).
